*THIS*! none of the "dogie" supposed cost savings have been demonstrated, nor has there been any discussion where the savings go. It is impossible to get through the budgets of any of these government agencies in two/three weeks, so all of this illegal maneuvering is unlikely to amount to anything.

My mother lost everything (her home and all her savings) to a scammer when she was 65, it was devastating. Hers was a larger fraud, but I can't believe there are not stiffer penalties for this.

This young Altadena weather guy had a growing following. In the Eaton fire, he saved lives Neighbors looked to this 24-year-old Altadena weather guy for local forecasts. In the Eaton fire, he saved lives.

This is a very impressive story. People listened to him, and his predictions were so accurate. Climate models are great and necessary - but knowing what is going on in microclimates is now a necessity. #climatechange

Running on Fumes: An Analysis of Fine Particulate Matter’s Impact on Finish Times in Nine Major US Marathons, 2003–2019 - Sports Medicine Background Under controlled conditions and in some observational studies of runners, airborne fine particulate matter smaller than 2.5 microns in diameter (PM2.5) is associated with exercise performan...

🌫️🏃‍♂️ Running on Fumes

A new study finds higher race-day air pollution (PM2.5) slows marathon finish times - by 32 seconds for men and 25 seconds for women per µg/m³.

Faster runners are hit hardest.

One of the better experimental designs, sample size, and even used the STROBE criteria) if you are a novice runner, low heel-drop shoes are better for you -- if you are running in higher heel-drop shoes going to low-drop shoes quickly can be risky. 1/2 #Running

RIP Jimmy Carter, our 39th president

"I have one life and one chance to make it count for something. I’m free to choose that something … my faith demands that I do whatever I can, wherever I can, whenever I can, for as long as I can."

This reminds me of when I was estimating infection rates using medicaid and census data using the sum of variances theorem for the denominator. I ended up inadvertently proving that this was equivalent to the Cochran-Mantel-Haenszel method. A fun week (because I did it twice). #statistics
