I'm fine with vibe coding as long as it becomes vibe working*
*my employer can no longer ask me to do anything more than telling the AI what to do in the morning and then occasionally getting it unstuck

perfection
honestly this is why I like *constructive* criticism on here, people tell me all the time "this is dumb and you're better than this" and you know what, they're at least half right
oh yeah tweeting at all is an invitation to ruining your professional life forever, and worse
really need to figure out how to delete old skeets, come to think of it
I mean... this is kind of a fun idea honestly
everyone misinterpreted that as hating on the co-op! lemme be clear I would kill to live close enough to be a member
the original sin of all twitter-like social networks is treating every post like the author thought about it for two weeks and then carved it in stone, instead of it being just another beat in a conversation
like you have no idea how badly I want to dunk on my own takes 5 minutes after they leave my dumb keyboard
honestly think it's because Bluetooth headphones are so bad at call quality
people got so mad the other day when I compared Bluesky to a food co-op thus proving my point but also, and this is the key thing, proving they are my people
ok yes, this
did you not get this memo
yikes
want to respond to an email? [cracks knuckles] hope you're ready to build an agentic harness sufficiently well-specified that the horde of gremlins that get spun up every time you access your AI Computer won't empty your bank account the moment you hit send
if you've seen "world model" demos it's apparent that one future of software is AIs just constantly hallucinating every computing environment forever; things that used to require a fraction of a watt now require a small nuclear power plant
I wonder also if it's a self-selecting group on here, regardless
was the made up nickname funny at least
the plan
1. everyone's a (vibe) coder now
2. 1000 years of technical debt accrued in a single year
3. solution? vibe debugging -- frontier labs devote all resources to perfecting it
4. $$ profit $$
Like, we are now at the point that someone with a sufficient understanding of an app can just open up voice memos, rattle off their thoughts about it for five minutes, have AI transcribe that, dump it into a code generator and you'll at least get a working prototype
Gonna show my age here but in a strange way this harkens back to computer magazines publishing the BASIC code for a program and you were expected to laboriously type every character into your terminal ...
except now you just copy and paste the spec from OpenAI
one of the things about just how much of our day to day government services are state and local is that it's hard to notice even very rapid erosion of Federal capacity until the only ones who can help you are your national government
One woman who called the State Department helpline looking for help said they told her to "stop ranting and raving" and hung up on her.
Another woman said they asked her how to spell Oman.

I haven't said anything about this before, bc in the grand scheme of horrors this only rates as an inconvenience, but since others are experiencing it:
Just three days after CBP arrested me for filming them outside Broadview on 9/27, my TSA Pre & Global Entry were suspendedβand so were my wife's.
ok but for real notebookLM gets you 90% of the way there (yes you have to check the original reference)
this is the category error all the AI maximalists make
if I had to break down what I think the impact of AI would be by field, I'd have to first talk about which *subtasks* it's helping people with
the amount of variability by field and task is MASSIVE, ranges from 90% takeover to 0%
Private credit/AI surely takes a *long* time to blow up after the pin pulled: they just gate withdrawals and investors are stuck in there. Borrowers keep going until loans mature (or they run out of cash) and they can't refinance and have to restructure.
Different to bank run risk, instant collapse
ah, interesting, ty!
great! gonna seek that out
if anyone who understands global markets better than I do wants to talk me down from this, now would be the time
everyone in the world is transitioning as fast as they can already, far as I can tell -- even the u.s.!
