Today I got mentioned in another Congressional hearing because:
-Bill Huizenga thinks heβs clever (no)
-Republicans like to lie about Biden era censorship to distract from the real censorship Trump is doing (see TrumpCensorship.com)

Remember when Russia would only call its war with Ukraine a βspecial military operation? Hmmmm.
lol
OTD in 1940, as part of "protecting them from fascism", Stalin signed the order to murder 22,000 Polish officers in Katyn. Like our recent crimes, we blamed nazis. This is Stalin writing "approved" on their death warrant.
Imagine crimes against humanity on this scale today..
I would go back into government if asked, and would be very happy to work on anything related to tech or Russia/Ukraine policy (which is what my degrees are in and how I ended up in this whole line of work)
The McCain Institute is proud to announce the 2026 cohort of its American Democracy and Technology Fellowship.
Sensible, bipartisan tech policy debates that are grounded in reality are all too rare in Washington these days. Iβm delighted to be joining the inaugural class of the McCain Instituteβs American Democracy and Technology Fellowship.

REPORTER: Yesterday you told us Israel was going to strike Iran and that's why we needed to get involved. But today the president said Iran--
RUBIO: No. Were you there yesterday?
REPORTER: Yes. I asked the question
After 4 years vilifying disinformation researchers for having the temerity to study information threats to democracy, Trump is suddenly raising the banner of βforeign election interferenceβ to attempt to justify his unlawful actions at home & abroad.

I have literally no idea what youβre talking about. Incidentally, my first day on that job was actually four years ago today, March 2, 2022. Afaik the βhunter filesββwhatever they areβhappened in 2020. Anything youβd care to amend in the above?
It's aliiiiiiiiive

(AXIOS) - No president in the modern era has ordered more military strikes against as many different countries as Donald Trump.

MAGA started pretending to care about election interference, but dismantled the infrastructure that addressed it.
We should see this about-face for what it is: a cynical weaponization of a critical national security issue in service of a power grab. www.thewayfinder.net/p/magas-elec...

I am blind with rage. How DARE these people yell βelection interferenceβ & βdisinformationβ when they made the lives of the researchers studying mis/disinfo HELL, to say nothing of the coordinated harassment of @ninajankowicz.com who warned all these fuckers about this very thing for years.
OFFS. When Iran tried to interefere in 2020, researchers caught them and called them out. Then the Benz-Weiss-Taibbi-Musk-Jordan-Trump axis labeled those researchers "censors" ... and set about defunding them and dismantling their organizations.
Two regime change efforts in two months that appear to be at least partialy justified by 2020 election claims.
Our March 5th webinar with @ninajankowicz.com of the American Sunlight Project is about just this kind of #censorship and #disinformation. Register to learn more, including how to push back and protect our society! #DefendResearch www.defendresearch.org/events/webin...
ππ» thank you! it's a labor of... well, certainly not love, but we do our best to document.
In January, we launched TrumpCensorship.com, where we track the 200+ instances of Trump administration censorship.
Academic research has been particularly hard hit, as I'll discuss w/ @defendresearch.bsky.social in a webinar next week.

The ironic thing is they're not even talking about me, they're talking about a former colleague (who the article is about), but used a picture of me because they're obsessed
Robert Shibley tweets: I can't quite figure out what's going on with this freedom.gov thing but th elevel of European wailing over it is so extreme that I think I support it. I mean, the Guardian is out there unironically quoting Nina Jankowicz.
Sean Hannity shares article from "rogue recap" with title "Biden's 'Disinformation' Board Mastermind Lands FISA Court Role." The article has a giant picture of Nina Jankowicz, who is not the subject of the story.
I continue to live rent free in the right-wingβs heads.
(I forgive them, they seem to find it so hard to learn new things. We're now going on four years of their boring obsession with me.)
I think it's very bizarre that the Trump administration chose today, the fourth anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, for the State of the Union.
While Ukrainians will be bedded down for another long night under attack, Trump will be gladhanding and self-congratulating.
When I rethought my newsletter this winter, one of the things I wanted to include was an advice column.
I'm excited to share the first edition, which includes one question on Ukraine/Russian disinformation and one on stalking:

One of the first things we were taught at Quantico was that there is never a moment in which you are not representing the Bureau; but, then again, we earned our place there, and werenβt granted its directorship as a sinecure for partisan malfeasance and a willingness to disregard the constitution.
Ossoff: "If you live in a major democracy, and the nation's spy chief is showing up at raids on sensitive election sites, something has gone wrong."
Thanks for watching! Phone case is casely, it's not my fave tbh; it looks less like leopard print and more like the surface of the sun and hasn't held up well against my constant dropping it. Pop socket is from pop socket, no complaints there!
