Minecraft 22.1 is going to confuse most players though. 4 digits keeps the existing format untouched and crosscompatible while helping solve the hotfix vs minor confusion. Plus, Minecraft even used to use 4 digits, back in Classic through Alpha.
That's correct, but mixing hotfix and minor releases gets confusing. They should add a fourth digit for clarity (e.g 1.21.5.1 is a hotfix for a game drop)
