Ruin a Beatles song:
Strawberry Jam Forever
@ministryoftesting.com - Just planning out my days for Thu and Fri, but I can’t see on the website how long different sessions are. For workshops are they all the same length (and how long, please?) 🙏🏻
I completely forgot BlueSky was a thing. ☹️
Also I look back at my thinking in the past and how much I’ve grown/learned/improved over that timeframe.
This is genius. No notes.
Ugh, brain! Go to sleep!
“Give her her phone” is valid English.
“Give him his phone” is valid English.
Why?
Why not “give him him phone”?
Or “give her hers phone”?
Why, English, why?
My reply would have been, “My risk appetite is low. If your risk appetite is great, and you’re fine with signing-off on any potential monetary, legal, repetitional etc damage, we can ship it right now.”
(and sometimes that’s actually the right call, especially if the risk of not shipping is higher)
Agreed with everyone; quarterly planning can serve as a great high-level guide to the direction the business or teams want to head in, and to prioritise focus areas, but estimating is often pointless.
👋🏻
This TBH. Especially coupled with Nicole van see Hoeven’s excellent YouTube videos on structure, plugins etc.
One of the most important I feel is Open-mindedness. That opens up so much for learning, improving, experimenting, sharing, and appreciating other roles and how they work together.
Oh wow. Talk about an eye for a photo. Bravo! 👏🏻👏🏻
A meme showing the scene in Lord of The Rings where King Theodin laments having not enough (LESS than half of what he hoped for) troops for the battle. The meme shows Aragorn finding two more spears, and Theodin stating that it’s now MORE than half of what he hoped for.

Whoever coined the terms "null and void" and "cease and desist" was redundant and repetitive but also ridiculous and absurd
await expect(page.getByTestId('product001Text')).toHaveText('You’ll always be mine…');
Test passes boss! Ship it!

It's very rare for an unchecked snarky comment to leave my lips, and unheard of for me in a professional setting. This week, though, it did and its taken me *days* to get back out of the funk it put me in.
“To err is human” - A reminder for me, and anyone else who needs it. 🙏🏻
“Can you tell me how to…”
“Yes, I can…”
“Will you show me how to…”
“Yes, I will…”
“When can you show me how to….”
“When would you like me to show you?”
“Add a request to my personal Jira board and ask me to sort out a timeslot. If my manager prioritised it I’ll be in touch…” 😡
And at an additional level, I prefer proactive and “verbose enough” sharing over piecemeal snippets of info.
It's taken me literally *years* to get out of this horrible habit (it's always "folks" now for me), and other stupid phrases like "resources" when talking about actual people. I try to correct people, too nowadays as there's literally no need for it.
Hey guys? And I mean *SPECIFICALLY* guys.
It's 2023.
Assuming that the tech person you're dealing with is a guy isn't something we do anymore. Hasn't been for a loooooong time.
So hearing "Oh, I didn't realise you were a she" isn't confidence-inspiring. 🤦♀️
Digging through old ramblings and discovered the Communities of Practice model I defined for Zoopla. Sharing in case it's useful and more than happy to accept feedback. Might make it a blog post. 🤔
iPhone 15 models are going to be disappointing and too expensive for what you get. I believe this because rather than there being hype around the model, most places are talking about iPhone 16 (2024) and even iPhone 17 (2025) already. 🤷🏼♂️
*so* painful TBH. It was worse than the pneumonia itself when I had it a few years back. 🤦🏼♂️
If only I hadn't moved into leadership... *le sigh* 🤣
I'm *very* in line with Janet. Automation simply lets us know whether what we expected was what actually happened. Similarly Exploratory Testing simply surfaces information we can use to make decisions (about risk, about system behaviour, about our automation approach etc)
Or "Shane" in an Irish accent.

Might put up a sign outside my house saying "er" to remind me of a certain intellectual powerhouse (🤣)
(pointing at the Plesiosaurus in Jurassic Evolution 2)
“And this one literally loves everything!” - Unintentional #DadJoke from my son this morning.
