The illustrated cover of DESIRE AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA by Olivia Dade, featuring a sunset and rocky cliffs in the background near a sandy shoreline, with an embracing couple in the foreground. The woman is brunette and fat and pretty, with her hair swept back. She's wearing a Grecian-style dress and has her arms around the neck of a dark-haired, lean man with glasses in a dark gray suit.
One of my self-published novellas, DESIRE AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA, has a gorgeous new cover from @lenikauffman.bsky.social and a new audiobook narrated by the incomparable Joy Nash--and that audiobook is out today!

The SAVE America Act is heading to the Senate for a vote. If it passes, hard-to-get documents would be required to register to vote β even though our laws already ensure only citizens vote in federal elections.
Tell your Senator to STOP the SAVE Act.
In highschool history the only thing we learned about Coolidge was how unpopular he was because of his "excessive cronyism" with no details or examples. Only now am I beginning to understand what that looks like and how enraging it is.

The only way to "win" the game of Global Thermonuclear War is "not to play", a concept a popular movie in the 80's managed to convey clearly. And yet here we are, in 2026, with people acting like that's not how it will inevitably go. Anyway, I'm trying to meet deadlines and edit cozy stories.
Thank you for putting in the work. It matters so much!
I lost my train of thought in the middle of the message I was leaving for Mayor Frey, but it's fine. You can do it too!
Call him at 612-673-2100, listen to his cheerful auto answer, say what ward you're in, and that you expect him to sign Pause Evictions, Save Lives.
Looking forward to this tonight!
The argument was that people without cars have to spend forever on their commutes. I would be interested in what the average commute time is in Seattle, because I bet it is looong for all those carless people. (Seattle does have good buses, but they are not fast)
Seattle has a single rail line, and then lots of buses and bike lanes. I would not put it's public transit in the same league as NYC or Chicago. Portland OR has better public transit (and still doesn't compare to NYC)

Scene from MASH: Hawkeye: War isn't hell. War is War, Hell is hell. And of the two, war is a lot worse. Fr. Mulchahy: How do you figure that, Hawkeye? Hawkeye: Easy, Father. Tell me, who goes to Hell? Fr. Mulchahy: Sinners, I believe. Hawkeye: Exactly. There are no innocent bystanders in Hell. War is chock full of them - little kids, cripples, old ladies. In fact, except for some of the brass, almost everybody involved is an innocent bystander.
