Imagine having the courage to lead with something everyone wants - not changing their clocks twice a year - and then choosing what experts agree is the wrong option 🤦♂️

Aeropress for life!
One of the fun parts of @anthropic.com’s Claude Code is that it’s trivial to work on ideas that are far, far outside your area of expertise.
Cognitive Security (CogSec) is becoming a non-negotiable skill.
The good news: it’s simple to learn.
The bad news: almost no one is paying attention.
I wonder if it's more productive and useful to close the buy-borrow-die loophole and raise capital gains taxes before jumping to "Private property isn't real anymore" 🤷♂️😻
How wild is the response of many reasonable people to California’s proposed wealth tax:
> Taking ~50%-100%+ of many billionaires net worth is a benefit to society and the side effects will surely lead to greater prosperity. Let them enjoy bankruptcy and lose most/all power within their organization

Happy to see @desmog.com reporting that @liberalca.bsky.social is listening to quality policy ideas and adopting them. In this case, from @buildcanada.com
Turns out good ideas cross partisan lines and come from within and outside government
Terrific endorsement 🏗️🇨🇦

A year ago I struggled to imagine 🇨🇦 expressing the will, urgency, or need to prepare itself for what will happen over the the next few years.
@buildcanada.com has created that movement.
And this memo by @ddebow.bsky.social perfectly captures how we can get there.
I heard from outside the echo-chamber that we’ve hit peak blueskyism.
I’m here for it.
This team just can’t stop shipping incredible products for Canadians.
Go @buildcanada.com go!

This was a lot of fun to work on.
Can’t wait to see where it leads to.
Keep a vault in git and load the repo up with Claude Code commands to quickly create new docs and all sorts of other Claude magic.
This one is a banger.
It’s shocking how many Canadians remain skeptical of AI.
Why would you choose to show up at work and ask for a “Last Place” badge?
The same can be asked of a country.
Thankfully it seems 🇨🇦 is hustling for the podium.
One mark of a mature adult is defending the right of other people to do things you personally consider repugnant.

After today if you’re anti Elon that means you’re pro Trump right? 🤔
Sorry, I don’t make the rules.
The United States Government will begin giving every child $1000 at birth and let me tell you, Bluesky is absolutely livid.
And surely you’re aware that wealth-inequality is not a measure of quality? It must be coupled with poverty rates, median income, and/or absolute income.
Is a society where everyone is wealthy & healthy yet some are more-so bad?
Is a society where everyone is equally impoverished good?
What’s the downside of raising the wealth floor and giving every child access to experiencing compounding wealth?
This seems like a win?
Reflecting on even @rutgerbregman.com acknowledging that Bluesky is a honeypot for the unhinged purity police.
I’d love to see Bluesky make it. Not sure what it will take though.
To that end, the Build Canada team has worked with entrepreneurs in our network to craft mandate letters for specific ministries that we believe will help transform the party’s policy agenda into action.
Read them here: www.buildcanada.com/memos/mandat...
Read the full survey findings here: www.buildcanada.com/memos/ready-...
I’ll admit the signal of these survey results was stronger than I would have expected.
Turns out a strong majority of Canadians are united around a shared desire to build.
I’m trying my best to use @bsky.app
This is the primary reason it’s difficult
There’s surely many reasons why they are projected to go from 24 seats to ~9.
Dumb stuff like this isn’t helping.
Do I want to see an NDP majority government? No.
But I do want to see very strong representation of the party in Parliament.
It’s because I'd like to see a strong NDP that ludicrous policy like this brings me to post about it.
I should probably make more of an effort criticizing the efforts of those I care very little of.
I could spend more time posting about why I think it’s unfortunate that in an individual who received a full pension at age 31 may become our Prime Minister.
tl;dr
One may concede there are both pros and cons in taxing the realized wealth of the very wealthy.
I’m unaware of any valid argument in taxing any amount of unrealized capital gains.
Let’s take a look at how Norway's wealth tax, initially projected to generate $146 million annually, instead resulted in a $448 million yearly loss.
