Yeah they seemed to lag way behind the actual delays. The station agent was having trouble getting in touch with operations and seemingly had to call them over the phone to get in touch?

"Seek alternate means of transportation"
Even if the ferry or transbay were close (not at W Oakland or 12th), is an out of towner or BART-only rider supposed to know what that means?
BART should be in crisis mode wrt rider experience given the looming deficit and it sure doesn't read that way.
Unrelated to this topic, I thought it was so weird the Health Department is going to take a year+ to post some PDFs in the (existing?) data portal as a follow up to the audit.
What are they doing over there @jwbee.bsky.social @berkeleyscanner.com ?

A lot of Californians think that their local schools are paid for by property taxes. For 87% of school districts that is not true. Prop 13 1978 etc keep taxes so low that these schools depend on the state (and thus the stock market!) to meet our per child meager minimums!
They did an awesome job building it β Iβm just here to preach the gospel of a Wolverine with a mid drive.
lol was not expecting to see my bike when I opened this app.
pictured is the result of unusual personal circumstance (6β8β, house at 1000β, never got used to drop bars). bike is my absolute favorite.
lol that was my thought with some of the suggestions to βstartβ with parking.
The level of entitlement in those threads is off the charts.
I have the willpower to not post this. For now. #EMBER
Folks on NextDoor are now threatening to create our very own state of Jefferson!
If she posts one or two more times with a picture of a hummingbird, Iβm leaning towards her word over BFD.
It's ridiculous that AC Transit is raising prices and cutting service while giving away $500,000 to an 'advisor' who says he 'snuck up' to Oregon four times to line up his new job. This sweetheart deal should be rescinded and the money should be redirected for more bus operators.
solano would be a great street for (lots of) raised crossings
Don't know why you have to stunt on the rest of us like this.
Optimists: Adoption of the Global Privacy Control (GPC) framework will ensure users never have to see another unnecessary cookie dialog as they browse the web!
Realists:
But fitting that save Hopkins focused on theoretical risk instead of current harms!
Oh I think this was actually pointing out the risk of pedestrians having to cross cycle tracks. Which, turns out, is not the risk we need to focus on.
Agreed -- unless there are a sufficient number of out-of-town WeWork'ers who go for the safe option of Blue Bottle.
Great location
If memory serves, one of the litigants was quoted in a years-later article complaining about skyrocketing insurance rates and non-renewals.
www.berkeleyfiresafecouncil.org/home β great organization.
They have! And have faced resistance to doing so. But they also still have a ton around the Lab / Hill Campus that provides a direct path from historical fire starts to the flats.
Iβm not the expert that Sprague is, and maybe this article isnβt his chosen venue for this, but Iβm surprised at the lack of discussion on larger-scale prevention.
Huge groves of eucalyptus on UC property? Effective fire breaks between us and Tilden? Parking bans on evacuation routes?
It's great. They had near-realtime coverage for the small fire on Grizzly Peak in summer 2024. app.watchduty.org/i/24010
I need people to understand that Santa Monica and the Sunset Strip and Hollywood Boulevard are not in the wildlands-urban interface.
They are urban flatlands with fire-prone hills vaguely nearby, like half the inner Bay Area.
Maybe we can rebrand it as the (least transparent, least efficient) way to build social housing in Berkeley.
...why are we issuing muni bonds on their behalf?
I'd be super interested in a writeup/thread on this.
