We should never ever forget why they did it

Pardon my french but I do not think mild mannered liberalism is up to the task of what we are now facing down.

Joe Biden earned far more media fury for ending a war than Trump will for starting one.

Bluesky overindexes on humorless scolds and people doing identity formation by arguing with something you didn't say but that doesn't make it an echo chamber; it means the place has an institutional culture, and I much prefer that culture to fending off Nazis with a block button that doesn't work

On @pablo.show I talked about the limits of generative AI, and why the brainstorming processβ€”which LLMs mostly eliminate, imoβ€”is fundamental to doing *good* work.

if you are like an even mildly capable software engineer and build code within a system with desirable outcome states or talking like a TPM to anyone, this bot (claude code / opus 4.6) can do your job for you. it’s something that’s scared me a bit, because i like coding!

so i’m gonna try to be like cordial and nice with this. i know a lot of people (myself included) are in the middle with this tech / swing day by day. but i think reading it kindly, the people who talk like this aren’t really aware of what has happened over the past 5 months

see i think it’s this argument that i completely get / agree with. i think even if the tech has its uses (i just used it for a bit to help me grasp some concepts) is it really worth all this shit? i don’t think so! and i think the pressure on these companies are worth it

a lot of critiques in aughts alleged that pentagon was influencing video games and in truth the relationship seems to be the other way around

A majority of the Israeli electorate wants the things they're getting from their government. This is one reason why sanctions are important and should be broad-based. Israelis need to understand that their policies have consequences.

i've said this many times, today even: if you use ai in your job, your employer should be paying for it.

only thing is I hope eventually they increase the ram on it a little (and therefore the iphones / ipads) and make it compatible with the studio display.

the MacBook Neo is imo Apple's most exciting product in a long long time. imo I think this focus on building computers for everyone rather than just premium products was something they lost after the Jobs era

I’m someone who has been using these tools for months. I think all of this is true, these machines can program as well as a senior engineer but with the design intelligence of a junior. However, what we lose in the process is bad. We are losing a mental muscle that is important in our trade.

2. I believe that this style of thinking and interaction is both stupid and doomed. It doesn't accurately describe what LLMs are capable of these days, and it demands that people ignore the evidence before their eyes. If you are a programmer, you know Claude can code, and sometimes it can code well.

my view is that you can be allowed to have an open marriage, just not to write a magazine article about it.
