love how we killed the old, frail anti-nuke ayatollah just to have him replaced with his young, healthy son who wants nukes and who just had his father, mother, wife, and child murdered on the same day by his mortal enemy. surely this will bring peace to the region

For me, the poor economics of current LLM tools is a reason to hold off on using them. When the bubble bursts, the current tools will be too expensive for most businesses. Eventually someone will develop and sell economic but less capable tools. Using them will not be like the current tools.

Also, if the measure of operational success is β€œis it safe to navigate the Strait of Hormuz” you’ve lost the war the second the first bombs dropped because it was safe prewar to navigate the Strait.

What is the theory of victory here

What has happened is what one could expect to happen if one was observing what went wrong with how Israeli has been prosecuting its war against Hamas: the programs produce so much output so swiftly that it functionally takes the humans out of the process. I did a 🧡 on this back on 18 FEB. 7/

Several years ago I finally got around to watching Battleship Potemkin, and was mildly disappointed because all its amazing innovative techniques have just become the norm, especially in adverts and music videos.

Is AI Killing Software Engineering Jobs? One claim I see repeated widely on social media is that LLM-based coding tools are taking software engineering jobs. These are often accompanied by extrapolations that soon – any time now &#8…

Did you know the global software developer population's much *larger* than it was in 2022?

Did you know tech layoffs were in full swing when ChatGPT launched?

Did you know AI companies are hiring engineers in large numbers?

A quick fact-check:

I wonder where they will get Doctors or medical scientists to do this without patient consent? Will those Doctors or scientists face ethics investigations? Or will they use non Doctors and non scientists?

Journalists "both siding" is what got us the MMR scandal. Without their "contribution" there would be no "controversy", only a fraudulent Doctor and a faulty scientific paper that was subsequently withdrawn.

The boys’ club: How Epstein’s influence shaped the exclusion of women in STEM In one email, an AI researcher suggested it’s β€œhard to be brilliant if you are worrying if you look fat or why another woman hates you.”

"the old conferences did not care about diversity. I suggest you not either,” Jeffrey Epstein wrote... β€œThe women are all weak, and a distraction sorry." #WomenInSTEM 19thnews.org/2026/02/epst...

There are now 58 people in the tea party group. Overnight, AI invites another 300!!

As I laboriously remove each invite, I find that it has RE-INVITED all the ones I removed before.

If only there was some kind of institution devoted to critically evaluating claims, bringing to bear relevant evidence, and having healthy skepticism of evidence advanced by those with something to sell, and aware of similar past situations. Oh well, maybe next time.

So why argue that an LLM might actually be more energy efficient than a human at a particular job? The only way that energy efficiency actually results in any savings is if you start eliminating humans. Not eliminating human JOBS. Eliminating HUMANS.

Wikipedia blacklists Archive.today, starts removing 695,000 archive links If DDoSing a blog wasn't bad enough, archive site also tampered with web snapshots.

The headline does not convey how completely batshit this story is. The Archive Today (archive.ph etc) admin weaponized the site's captcha to attack a blogger who wrote about them and *altered archived screenshots* as part of the attack.

No to homilies prepared with Artificial Intelligence The Pope therefore invited the priests to enter into real life and called for vigilance when confronted with artificial intelligence and internet use. He warned against "the temptation to prepare homilies with Artificial Intelligence".
"Like all the muscles in the body, if we do not use them, if we do not move them, they die.
The brain needs to be used, so our intelligence must also be exercised a little so as not to lose this capacity," he said.
Moreover, "to give a true homily is to share faith," and Al "will never be able to share faith," he insisted.
"If we can offer a service that is inculturated in the place, in the parish where we are working, people want to see your faith, your experience of having known and loved Christ."

I just did the dumbest thing of my entire career to prove a much more serious point.

I tricked ChatGPT and Google, and made them tell other users I’m a competitive hot-dog-eating world champion

People are using this trick on a massive scale to make AI tell you lies. I’ll explain how I did it

I spent my childhood inside of American concentration camps. I know one when I see one. And that is what ICE is building.

Let me get this straight, you can't run Windows 10 anymore but Windows 11 won't work on computers past a certain age because of all the a.i stuff. So you have to upgrade to a new computer in order to run Windows 11 but because of the a.i. they are no longer selling RAM or hard drives to end users.

Reminds me of someone following a Victorian recipe that called for a "wine glass" of Brandy. Picture that amount of Brandy. Except Victorian wine glasses were closer to the size of a modern "sherry glass".
