One of the greatest feats of modern software engineering is the syncing between simultaneous use of the Spotify app on my phone and the Spotify webapp browser on my laptop #spotify

What is the BlueSky equivalent of posting weird ocean/galaxy light product links under viral skeets?

Verification is a difficult problem; especially when an impersonator can also create a domain with a verification page.

Trustworthiness in the Age of AI It probably feels liberating to be a little bit wrong, all of the time.

I've been thinking about how AI and LLMs are changing what it means to be trustworthy - for a computer, for a business, and for an engineer

How I ship projects at big tech companies What I think about when I'm lead engineer on a project

This is so good. If you’re doing Enterprise product management you have to read this. It’s not pretty, but it’s real.

β€œA project is shipped when the important people at your company believe it is shipped.”

What are embeddings? A deep-dive into machine learning embeddings.

πŸ‘‹ Hey Bsky! I spent the last year reading about embeddings, which make up large language models. When I was doing research, though, I couldn't find anything that explained them in a business, engineering, AND math context. So I wrote a paper. πŸš€

Isn’t the controversy around the academic versus emotional definition of a word? Maybe I am also misinterpreting the whole thing (but everyone agrees white supremacists should be banned).

Mastodon/ActivityPub is always an option, it has much more sophisticated community building and mature social tools. You should give it a try.

Going to be very interesting how trust networks seed and maintain over time, and what the default settings will be for various clients. I can see whole swaths of the non-US internet segregated by default

Well, do you remember at the start of other social media networks where you had to connect twitter/FB/G+ to seed the social graph? IMO This is going to reduce the barrier of entry on creating networked apps. Can’t wait to see the pre-networked photo, book or music networks built in 2023
