Trying out ghostty.org as my terminal tonight after feeling like iTerm2 was eating my battery.

I had forgotten how good the 2013 era MacBook Pro keyboard was to type on.
Stackoverflow questions down 300k questions a month at its peak to practically zero.
And I get it. I donβt know when I was even on there last but it just feels a massive hit to collective experiences in development.
Just finished A Beginners Guide To Breaking And Entering
Not the typical type of story I usually go to but my sense of humour all the way through and a random find I wanted to share

CloudFlare. Moved all personal projects there now. Slowly moving the domains too.
First BlueSky post of 2026.
Iβve been playing around with LuCLI (pronounced βLucee-EL-EYEβ) which is basically #Lucee in your terminal. Iβve now got it running inside #Docker with #Nginx in front, and itβs surprisingly smooth.

Happy new year everyone π₯³π₯³ itβs been a quite 2025 for me but hopefully a bit more engaging in 2026
Is your production environment down?
Just generate a fake CloudFlare error page and blame them whilst you restore from backup/fix it

DBeaver in the cloud ... a security nightmare but could be handy too :D
Just pushed a small update on Notes4Me
`npm run summaryonly`
Can now test different prompts for summaries without recording full meetings. Pass it a transcript and see the output in the console.

Itβs just hard to even comprehend this.
Iβve been tinkering and made little macOS thing:
Notes4Me (on #Github too)
Local recording. Local transcribing. Local summarising.
This means: No cloud. No sub fees. No sending your conversations anywhere.

I've created a thing.
*Notes4Me*
A privacy-focused macOS menu bar app for recording, transcribing, and summarising (slack,Teams,Zoom, Google meet etc) meetings using local AI processing.
Nothing leave your computer. Uses Ollama for processing and creating summaries.

I suppose what Iβm saying is right now is that itβs been about reiteration of over a decade.
Vision Pro is the only exception, but that feels like a technical milestone (like a concept car) than a cultural change.
Not saying he stagnated. His background was logistics and he created an operational behemoth heβs just not a products guy.
I think they just need a modern day Jonny Ive, someone whose vision contrasts with whatβs happening today but aligns with tomorrow.
Reinvention over refinement.
I hope they bring back a products guy. Logistically, Cook has transformed Apple and made the what they are but now they need someone to push their products in to the next decade.
iOS call screening has done more for me than most other features recently. My number has obviously been a part of a leak somewhere but itβs not even ringing here.
AWS engineer looking at the blinking lights hoping they start blinking differently
Is this the stupidust headline ever
Β£3000 = 750 flat whites at Β£4
Thatβs 2 a day. Every day. No breaks.
The key take away is: "Apple has also made efforts to release spare parts and manuals for βiPhoneβ repair, and has scaled down software locks and restrictions on parts pairing, improving its βiPhoneβ repairability scores."
Im not one for tinkering nowadays but it good knowing the option is there now.
Dutch late night TV has its take
How did Apple screw up screen shots on iOS so badly.
I don't hate iOS26 new design but I do agree that I am coming across more instances of "Basic actions require too many taps."
This is a 2012 meme using cartoon versions of old web browser logos (Opera, Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer). What happens: Opera says it can open 30 pages at once. Firefox says 40. Chrome says 50. Then they start boasting about speed. Opera says itβs fast, Firefox says faster, Chrome says faster than both. Internet Explorer stays quiet until the last panel, where it finally says, βI started.β Point: Itβs a joke about how Internet Explorer was notoriously slow to start compared to other browsers.
Just found this from 2012(!!) Browser wars were fun times for developers back then. Standards be damned.

Great news. This and The Expanse have been some of the best sci-fi in years on TV.
