Trump is abusing the powers of the Executive to turn a simple contract dispute into a complicated legal battle with major implications for American businesses.
Here's a breakdown of the truth of what's going on, and what Congress should do to stop it:

We cannot simply brush this aside because she’s been dismissed, those actions must be fully and independently investigated.
Serious questions also remain about Noem’s unconstitutional guidance, refusal to comply with lawful court orders, refusal to disperse disaster aid, and her obstruction of independent investigations into the killings of U.S. citizens in Minnesota.
Trump’s decision to fire Noem is long overdue. But this doesn’t address the deeper lawlessness and abuses that continue to plague DHS.
The American public deserves clear commitments that DHS will follow the rule of law, and that there will be real transparency and accountability for misconduct.
Mounting uncertainty is leading companies to slow hiring.
Meanwhile, as Americans pay more for groceries, electricity, housing, and health care, Republicans in Congress continue to cede their power to rein in the Trump Administration’s catastrophic and harmful policies.
Meanwhile, service-sector hiring – especially in healthcare, which has long been the main engine of job growth – is slowing and reporting losses.
The disastrous consequences of Trump’s erratic decisions are becoming clearer by the day.
Far from sparking a manufacturing renaissance, Trump’s tariffs have worsened a months-long slide in blue-collar employment. Those jobs now sit roughly half a million below what was projected in 2023 and 2024.
Already under strain from the President’s trade war and anti-immigrant crusade, our economy is extremely ill-prepared to deal with yet another wave of Trump-induced chaos, this time in the form of an illegal war of choice in the Middle East which is rapidly driving up energy prices across the globe.
Today's jobs report found the economy shed 92,000 jobs, raising the unemployment rate to 4.4 percent – one of the highest rates since 2021.
Since Trump’s tariffs took effect, the economy on balance lost 19,000 jobs.
This should be a flashing red warning light for the Trump Administration.

The US continues losing blue-collar jobs—year-on-year job losses have hit 238k as manufacturing, transportation, & mining industries lose jobs at a rapid pace, while growth in construction remains low

Yet, Republicans refuse to rein them in.
I voted NO on this bill to fund DHS because Congress shouldn’t give these lawless agencies a blind eye or a blank check.
The House just defeated the Iran War Powers Resolution.
A tragic mistake, but it is not a war authorization.
Under the Constitution, Trump's war remains illegal without authorization from Congress.
Congress shouldn't vote to fund a war it has not authorized—not another penny.

Last week Trump again told Congress and the country that his strikes on Iran last year "obliterated" Iran's nuclear weapons program.
Today he says they were two weeks away from a bomb, something his Administration has not supported with intelligence.
More lies about the war.
