I'm trying to imagine people telling me not to treat my cancer because it left me medically dependent.

Transphobia is so absurd.

Ours is in a wee room that serves as a pantry off the main farmhouse.

I keep evangelising dryers, but alas, we still have a kitchen sink with two taps.

My friends and I have an annual watch party of the Super Mario Bros. Movie.

TRUST THE FUNGUS!

if you haven’t watched the 90s live-action Mario movie you really can’t understand how wonderfully strange it is

Well, obviously.

12.03.2026 00:05 πŸ‘ 13 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah, but I think it's more of a passage close to harbour.

Oh, and there's the Menai Strait between Gwynedd and Ynys MΓ΄n, of course.

I'm curious to know if things called sounds count as straits.

Like Nantucket Sound, Block Island Sound, the Corryvreckan in Scotland, etc.

Northumberland Strait, between Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. I don't know how famous it is, but it's the one I know.

I mean, I was fired for having cancer two weeks after receiving a merit raise, so that should tell all of us working folks that nothing is beyond the pale for corporations.

It's kind of gauche for the Goddess of Spring to be practising religion anyway. I'm supposed to be the topic of religion, not a participant. πŸ₯°

Also, getting excommunicated three times by the Orthodox Church for refusing to believe in patriarchy, the trinity, and that being queer is wrong.

That put the nail in the coffin, methinks.

Well, I was a goth girl in the 90s and 2000s, so as a teenager I dabbled in the occult. Once you realise the Virgin Mary doesn't send down a reckoning on you for being a witch and thunderbolts don't strike you down for heresy, it's kind of hard to keep caring about it.

The trick is that you don't tell them about things you know and love, you ask them about what they know and love and then you get to seem them light up as they enthusiastically tell you who Chappell Roan is.

Rapunzel looking very happy and content, much as I feel tonight.

Rapunzel looking very happy and content, much as I feel tonight.

One student today called me "the best music teacher ever", another said I'm "full of joyful whimsy", a third brought me homemade soup despite having never spoken to them outside of classroom discussion, and a fourth said, "I was about to quit cello until I started with you."

I had a good day!

I'm not criticising young people, just pointing out that we grew up in different technological worlds.

It comes from the Greek βάτος, meaning a brambleberry (a berry from the genus Rhubus, like raspberries, blackberries, dewberries, cloudberries, etc.).

You just don't want me becoming a combination apple maiden and berry wench because I'll be too powerful.

I'm upgrading from a mere pomologist to a combination pomologist and batologist.

Wait, why are you autocorrecting the word "batologist"? It's a real word. Look it up, autocorrect.

I'm not trying to romanticise it by any means, but yeah, very big "I've been doing this since before you were born, little child" energy lol

I guess us Millennials are just feeling our age now that we're in our 40s.

Even getting on the internet seemed somewhat arcane at first. We didn't have search engines. In the 90s you kind of did feel almost like a hacker of sorts just working out chat commands in IRC. You were basically initiated into computer/internet usage through trial, error, and the occasional tip.

07.03.2026 15:12 πŸ‘ 4 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Like, I still remember the days when you regularly had to defragment your hard drive, de-gauss your monitor, edit the registry, and sometimes even wipe your operating system and reinstall it. We had to install drivers and troubleshoot versions to make our peripherals work, etc.

When I say they're bad at computers, I mean that Gen Z generally grew up with products that "just work", so to speak, and aren't as much of a hobby. Everything for them is user-friendly, and they have the benefit of endless resources whilst we had to figure it out and tinker and learn the ropes.

07.03.2026 15:05 πŸ‘ 3 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 0

This is very prescient because Dana and I were saying just yesterday how it's interesting that Gen Z is bad at computers. They generally grew up with computers as everyday, streamlined products, whereas the older Millennials grew up in a world where computer usage (outside of work) was still niche.
