Sorry I'm not more open-minded about LLMs, it's just some fucking maniacs shoveled out a bunch of useless bloatware featuring that technology, did not give me any chance to opt out, reorganized the entire economy around it, zeroed out gains made by green energy, and made it impossible to buy RAM
This came across my IG feed from 3 weeks ago, and it's just⦠people asking folks to leave Substack and refraining from sharing links to it aren't doing it for no reason.
This segment is from a 2023 interview, link: pod.link/decoder/epis...
It makes the rounds every now and again, for good reason.
The European Court of Human Rights ruled in favour of simple dignity: treat people as the gender they present.
Since the Dow is under 50,000, can we talk about the Epstein files again?

Pearce Quigley and Lauren Patel in Small Prophets. Lauren is holding two large glass bottles. Pearce is looking disheveled. He has a large white beard. They are in a garden environment.
Who else is on the Small Prophets bandwagon?
If you arenβt yet, this is the gentle, kindly comedy that you need to watch.
Weβre talking first season Ted Lasso kind of great.
Avoid knowing the plot going in.
(It is SFF, and Iβd love to see it get a Hugo in 2027.)
What. The. Fuck.
I think about this Tony Benn speech much more than I used to
Dog belly dancing, part 2.
Ditto for me on Sesame Street, along with the Muppet Show.
And The Twilight Zone, ha, which explains a lot, I suppose.
Aw, you're too kind! It's wild hearing it as part of the game. :) And wow, the game looks so different from the first playtest!
Wanna playtest an awesome browser game?
(Small bonus: you can hear the music I've been making lately for it!)

Ugh, another AI slop trough filled with our work. I've pulled my papers. I guess I'll host copies on my website or something. When I get around to it, anyway.
The upcoming legal challenge of Quebecβs secularism law, before the Supreme Court of Canada has evolved from a fight over whether teachers can wear hijabs in the classroom into a debate over who should get the final say when deciding basic questions of rights and freedoms

Not sure what happened with my phone, but suddenly I'm getting a constant stream of Korean AMBER alerts. (They're all for elderly people who wandered off, not abducted kids like the term suggests.)
Not sure if a setting on my phone got changed or what. First time in years...
It's been ages since I mentioned that I have an album over on Bandcamp. I created it to go with an RPG book but you know, that's not necessary to enjoy it:

NEW: Read this terrific piece @virginiaheffernan.bsky.social for @thenerve.news in which she unpicks Edge.org, the hugely influential 'salon' funded by Epstein & threaded through with race science & eugenics.

Letterboxd screenshot Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) Watched by Branson Reese 28 Apr 2022 Abrams isn't a man so much as he's an avatar of cultural entropy. If you make something popular enough eventually you will die or sell it off and and a person in thick rimmed glasses whose main artistic vision is that he loves to have meetings will take it and sandblast it until it's nothing. I hate to see this happen here but maybe it's good that this happened. Maybe every franchise should collapse into a version of itself that makes shareholders nod and shake each others' hands. We should learn to speak in a language that rich people who don't dream can't comprehend.
i often think about this review
Six-character relationship map, with lines between each dyad indicating their specific relationship and call-out boxes that express their primary desires, like "Win gasparo's undying love".
I think a lot about how relationship maps can drive design and play. Here's a map for a six-character game that includes lines of affinity and also primary motivations proximal to characters. Everyone but the king has at least one one-sided relationship. Everyone knows exactly what to do.
It's difficult to overstate the extent to which transphobia in its modern form is a deliberately manufactured phenomenon
I am mildly heartened by the fact that even this was unable to move the actual cultural consensus past "I don't really get it but I don't like cruelty against them"
Actual footage of Vince Guaraldi performing "Linus and Lucy". I'm gobsmacked that this exists, but utterly thrilled too. www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EMf...
