I've designed a little av board that fits in the battery slot. Don't pull yours to pieces just yet, you can have one of these if it works

I know it basically died on its feet because of the imminent arrival of solid state screens, but in relative terms the picture quality is loads better than the equivalent sized casio lcd.
Pin 15 is audio, 16 is video from the ic. I've bent those out slightly so they're sat outside the socket. Signal is +ve sync so inverting a CV signal with a fast op amp (and unity buffering with the other side of the ic). Gain pot as R2, and bias pot dividing vcc to v+. Audio is direct connection.
Magnifying lid on with internal sound. Not a lot to squish inside, although it's pretty crammed in there already. Maybe get away with fixed gain and bias if I can find a good setting that works with most stuff. And replace the earphone with an AV in.

Nailed it. Faster op amp and some pots to tune the gain and the bias.
And a 25fps camera

Stupid locked 30fps phone is making shite look shiterer but even so, it's a breakthrough.
Turns out it's after +ve sync signal so just running it through an op amp to invert it for now, and it works!
