I often ride my fancy bikes for utility as well. I use the money I save by not driving my car to buy ridiculous bikes

I was loving the sunset, so I scurried up to the hospital to get a better view

People are way too serious about their cars. I have had good results with a paint roller sprayed glossy fluorescent orange strapped to my rear rack. Drivers will force oncoming traffic to swerve rather than risk passing within 2 meters of the roller

Full Suspension Bikes and SRMR Finish Rates Conventional wisdom says that the added complexity of full suspension (or some say any suspension) will reduce their reliability to the point of making them a poor choice for ultra-endurance racing. There are several components to this, and, like so much conventional wisdom, data may contradict the accepted story.

I know AI sucks, but then sometimes I think it might have some useful analysis.
I asked Jetpack for AI feedback on an article and it provided it in Portuguese. While the feedback was relevant, and clearly based on my article, the article was in English, and I make no claims of Portuguese fluency.

All the employees got laid off one day per week at a company where I worked, when we got reinstated, I was the only one to insist on staying at 30 hours. It was glorious.

Just a week until #givingtuesday Please consider #youthenroute and Give Freedom. Our quote today is from a student after they'd had a few months to enjoy their new skills and bike.

CPSC Warns Consumers to Immediately Stop Using Batteries for E-Bikes from Rad Power Bikes Due to Fire Hazard; Risk of Serious Injury or Death

a customer left a negative review for my customer service when I suggested a fire extinguisher for his “totally legitimate brand” of bike. Also had a 180mm travel fat suspension fork with 146mm qr spacing and 1”steerer tube, so I should also have recommended a dentist www.cpsc.gov/Warnings/202...

Customer today: “I’ve been working with chatgpt on this for over 2 hours, and you fixed it in 3 minutes, that’s amazing!”

Chatgpt hasn’t ever ridden a bike, I amn’t surprised it can’t fix one

Bike (In)Decision For SRMR What Kind of bike do you recommend for these events? There are a number of bike options that would all be solid choices for these races. There are few extremely technical sections, but you will benefit from wider tyres, flat bars and mountain bike geometry on the rougher sections and on descents. When it gets very tough, you probably won’t be able to ride, regardless of the bike you choose.

I’ve had five minute commutes and hour and a half commutes, and yeah, this completely checks out.

Your discussion of the section on saddle sores is the best though.
When I first read the book (in maybe 1984?) I failed miserably at analytical thinking and I let myself be influenced by it for way too many years

I have a trickle charger in my van to keep the battery from dying when the van is parked for more than a month. The money I save by not driving can buy a really nice e-bike every year.

People will even buy something so they can get an invite to review. many assume that bike shops are required to service anything they bring that even vaguely resembles a bike. I’ve seen e-scooters, one-wheel things, e-skateboards, and more just in the last month. We don’t fix them, even if you yell

Imagine if you were to come across a hub motor wheel with 141 mm 14mm bolt-on hub. Or a fork with 135mm bolt-on spacing with front disc spacing, and not a 9 or 10mm axle, where would you find replacement parts?

I get a lot of bad reviews from rad owners who are upset that we won't service their "reputable brand" "bike"

Yes, the customer who arrived 5minutes after closing today did just want a cable cut. But wanted it cut longer

Go ahead and have a cutoff temperature (not that windchill bullshit, it works differently on bikes) or amount of fresh snow.

Much as I thought about using it as a protest vote, the remote chance of 4 years of his comedy show was too much to bear.

So cute!
My dyslexia makes these very hard to drive, but I would love to have options like this. All I want is room for 4 people and 4 bikes I don’t need to go 150km/h or monster-truck over other people’s cars

I’m still reeling from this article. The whole thing is utterly insane. Are people seeing this? Why does it feel like there are never enough eyes on stories like this? Even Sweden’s Foreign Ministry is treating her account as merely “allegations.” www.aftonbladet.se/nyheter/a/25...

While I do own some fancy-pants bikes, I agree that they are not what is necessary for bikepacking
