I listened to this today and I learnt a lot.
I love the fact that Andrew always covers artists’ later work - there’s something very satisfying about it, and in this case it makes for quite a breathtaking conclusion.

I really enjoyed it this morning on my way to work! Glad that you expanded the episode! I’m adding Colin Blunstone’s debut solo album to my #johnsvinyl wantlist. #500songs @500songspodcast.bsky.social

I will do this... if my Patreon hits one million dollars a month. Your move, podcast fans.
Buy this when it comes out again. It's a great book, and Joel's a great bloke, and this is one of many books that was completely fucked by Unbound stealing all their authors' money.
New bonus episode just dropped!
It’s “Time of the Season” by The Zombies 🧟 🎶
Andrew takes a longer look at the career of The Zombies and the final track of their 1968 album, Odessey and Oracle.
Available only on Patreon: www.patreon.com/posts/152041...
Long-time listeners might recall that a much shorter episode was released on The Zombies several years ago (back when the bonus episodes were only ten minutes or so). This one clocks in at 48 minutes, so be ready!

New for my paid Patreon backers, a 48-minute bonus episode on the Zombies and "Time of the Season", expanding greatly on the 13-minute one I did five years ago.
At least we didn’t say Nick Park. Or Nick Grimshaw. Or Nick Knowles. Or Nicholas Cage. Unless Andrew fancies the challenge.
Nick Drake, damn.
Nick Drake. Damn.
We’ve tried to work out how many CDs you could fit in this tote bag. The answer is lots. With a vinyl or two, possibly.

Take a sad song and make it better…

As of yesterday, I have listened to all of the regular episodes of #500songs @500songspodcast.bsky.social starting from ep. 1 in mid-October. I’ve also listened to many Patreon episodes, but I’m now listening to them all in reverse chronological order Thanks Andrew! @andrewhickey.500songs.com
Wow! This is an exceptionally kind description and overview of our podcast. And second in the list after @500songspodcast.bsky.social - royalty!
Thanks, @wilburmudd.bsky.social, that’s very heartwarming.
the best podcast! it's @500songspodcast.bsky.social . They have a Zombies episode up already www.patreon.com/posts/500-so...
"Friends" is a beloved American sitcom that aired from 1994 to 2004, following six young adults—Rachel, Ross, Monica, Chandler, Joey, and Phoebe—living in New York City. The show explores their friendships, romances, careers, and personal growth over ten seasons.
If there is one important thing (and there’s far more than 1) @500songspodcast.bsky.social has done, it’s hammering home that the Lomax-driven white idea of old time black blues and folk musicians being “primitive” and “pure” is fucking BS. Many of those artists, Johnson included, played EVERYTHING.
I’m hopeful, too!
Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney! Wow!
Everything crossed for you, Mike.
