So, although we all saw our property tax bills explode since 2015 (mine is up 10% on an inflation adjusted basis since 2022), and even though the population increased 30%, per person revenue is roughly flat. The City hasn't really benefited from the property tax boom on a per capita basis.
The big stat is at the bottom: population growth since 2015.
Look at Fredericton as an example. Population in the capital city grew 31% from 2015 to 2024.
That time period saw per person revenue remain nearly flat (it grew 1.6%), but per person spending decreased 8.1%.
