It pretty much exists because Delancey/Essex isn't ADA accessible (yet) and thus it provides a way to get across the bridge.

Interesting obsession I noticed in Vienna this annual trip wasβ¦ Dubai chocolate!? Everyone there told me it was due to social media, but I havenβt seen it in NYC. Meanwhile in Vienna it was in ice cream, hot chocolate and the local Dunkinβs donutsβ¦ I tasted it. It tasted like pistachio.
Yes, but Gen X was *intentionally* named as such w/ the X representing disconnection/uncertainty/lack of identity/etc. Then, for the next generations subsequent Latin letters were simply used until they quickly ran out: Y (later "millennial"), Z, (switch to Greek) Alpha, Beta...
Some manufacturers of chargers and hubs still need be told. The amount I still see out there that consist of something like 3x USB-A, 1x USB-C is amazing.
Actually, this represents that we *stopped* coming up with names for generations and are just following the letters of the greek alphabet. We've had 15 years to come up with a name for the "Alphas" and I haven't heard anything good. For Gen Z I've only half-heartedly heard "Zoomer".
One of the things I absolutely love about #NYE in #Vienna is that you can go from a massive crowd to virtually having your own private fireworks show within a five-minute walk.
How many races do you know of which begin with a waltz? #silvesterlauf #vienna #wien
This was a very interesting read, but I had to question the legitimacy when the article stated part of the defense investment was two dogsled teams. Maybe thatβs true, but explanation!?
Officially only a paid holiday for government employees and de facto for banks/financial sector. Usually also for corporate jobs, but thatβs the employerβs choice.
In the US this only happens when Jan 1 is on a Sunday. Officially Jan 2 becomes βNew Yearβs Day Observedβ.

Woke up Christmas morning to a frozen iPhone which took 10+ restore attempts and over two hours to fix. Luckily I was still left with an hour of daylight to get a scenic Vienna run in! πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Street showing outdoor dining setup: low wood panel barrier with plants. Brooklyn buildings (storefronts with apartments over them) are in the background.
Same picture as the previous one, only with two cars parked instead of the outdoor dining setup.
Thanks to Eric Adams and the New York City Council, Simple Loaf on 5th Ave in Brooklyn went from having a beautiful outdoor dining setup with space for more than a dozen patrons to having space for parking two cars.
Also, there are new permit costs and design requirements. Going forward the seating will be limited to basically chairs, tables, umbrellas (or light fabric covering) and an outer safety barrier. No more full walls/roofs. Certainly many "shed" designs were ugly, but some were rather elegant.
The seats in the parking spots (as opposed to on the sidewalk) are a new development since COVID. Most businesses who kept them past 2021 left them up all year. De/reconstruction and especially winter storage rental costs will likely discourage businesses from bringing them back in the spring.
