Today was a stormy day across the metro, with a cold front moving over our area. This rain brought temps down considerably from yesterday, with over an inch of rain in Memphis ending the recent dry spell. A few areas also reported downed trees from today's storms. /CS

5:00pm: The majority of the rain should be exiting the metro, but a few scattered showers are expected to drizzle around the metro through the overnight hours. These showers should also continue to be just rain, with minimal lightning and no severe threat. /CS

3:30PM - Thunderstorms are exiting the metro, but the rain will remain. These showers and gusty conditions will persist until around sunset, but scattered thunderstorms are expected until around midnight. The threat of severe thunderstorms is luckily over for the day as well. /CS

2pm- All counties in the metro have been removed from the severe t'storm watch! Steady rainfall will continue until sunset, with scattered showers continuing until midnight. Highs in the low 70s were reached earlier today, but a cold front has dropped us to near 60°! /ER

1:20pm- All counties in the metro have been removed from the severe t'storm watch. /ER

12:50pm- Fayette County has been removed from the severe t'storm watch.

12:50pm- The leading edge of the line of storms is moving out of the metro, as well as any severe potential! Behind the line, steady rain will continue most of the afternoon. /ER

12:30pm- The severe t'storm watch has been extended to 5pm and includes more counties in NE MS. Counties in the metro will be dropped out of the watch earlier than 5pm. /ER

12:20pm- The leading edge of this line of storms is about to exit Marshall County. Behind the line, temps will start to drop and there will be steady rain. /ER

12:11pm The severe t'storm watch was just removed from Shelby, Tipton, Desoto & Tunica Co.

12:05pm: Here's a look at the current watches, warnings and advisories. Most of the metro (excluding Critt. Co) is under a severe thunderstorm watch until 2pm.
Shelby, Tipton & northern Desoto Co are under a flood advisory until 1:45pm/2:15pm.

11:45am- Crittenden Co. has been removed from the severe t'storm watch. The line of showers is about halfway through Marshall and Tate Co. and will continue to move SE, maintaining the possibility of strong wind gusts. The rest of the metro will continue to see steady rain. /ER

11:15am- This line of storms is about to exit Shelby Co. and is moving through Fayette and Marshall Co. The line is moving SE and has weakened slightly, but could still produce strong wind gusts. /ER

10:45am- This line of storms is about to exit Tipton Co. and is about halfway through Shelby Co. This line will exit the metro around 2pm as it continues to move SE. The main threat is still strong gusty wind. /ER

10:37am- A severe t'storm warning has been issued for most of Shelby, most of Fayette, N Desoto and NW Marshall Co. until 11:15am. This storm is moving E and includes Bartlett, Southaven and Collierville. Expect 60mph wind and small hail. /ER

10:15am- The first and second lines of storms have combined into one and are capable of producing winds up to 60 mph. This line continues to move SE and should be out of the metro area by 2pm. /ER

Sirens in unincorporated areas across Shelby Co may go off. The warning includes only far northern Shelby. Clips the north edge of Bartlett, so their sirens also sounding. In the warning? Find shelter until the storm passes!

10:02am - A severe t'storm warning has been issued for most of Shelby Co. This storm is moving E and includes Memphis and Bartlett. Expect 60 mph wind and small hail. /ER

9:57am- A tornado warning has been issued for N Shelby and S Tipton Co. until 10:45 am. This storm is moving E and includes Millington and Atoka. /ER

9:35am- The first line of storms is entering Shelby and Tipton Co., with a second line trailing closely behind. The second line is stronger than the first and is capable of producing winds up to 60 mph. /ER

9:31am- A severe t'storm warning has been issued for E Tipton and NW Shelby Co. until 10am. This storm is moving E and has the potential for 60 mph winds and small hail. /ER

9am - The first line of storms is currently crossing the river, and isn't very strong. However, a second line still in AR will cross the river in 30 minutes to an hour and bring with it higher potential for severe weather. /ER

Very low chance, can't completely rule out a spin up in a strong line of storms. 2% to be exact

8:30am- A line of showers and t'storms is situated in E AR and is moving SE towards the metro. Some showers and t'storms are ahead of the initial line and are entering Crittenden Co. Expect the main line to cross the river around 9-10am, with the main threat being gusty wind. /ER

7:55am- A severe t'storm watch has been issued for every county in the metro until 2pm. The main threat associated with the watch is gusty wind. /ER

7:20am A line of showers and t'storms are moving across AR and will arrive in the metro after 9-10am. A few showers & rumbles of thunder are possible after 8am. Maim threats today: strong wind gusts & heavy rain through early afternoon.

[UPDATED 7am] Showers & t'storms will likely move into the city ~9-10am and continue into early afternoon with trailing rain showers lasting into the evening. A few storms could produce strong wind gusts and heavy rain may result in minor flooding. Temps will drop from the low 70s to 60s.
