there's always been hucksters in our industry, to be sure, but the sheer level of "we don't care about the extreme harm this is causing" has been particularly glaring with the last 3-4 cycles (cryptocurrency, NFTs, metaverse, and now genAI, all scams, all destructive AF beyond anything before them)
I'm just kind of amazed that the past ~8 years or so of the tech industry have been basically reduced to a series of absolute fucking scams that opportunists latch on to as get-rich-quick schemes, no matter the cost to people, or the planet, and I just assume that's what we're gonna be going forward
