I've worked to change govt policy on I/P, donated sizable chunks of my income for hunger in Gaza, protested the war, canvassed for parties opposing it, etc

I would argue that settlement in the west bank, by nature, is violent

governments can take non-mainstream positions to cater to parts of their base or coalition, this happens all the time

the obvious critique is that the average person doesn't care enough to actively vote against settlement, which is bad.

more accurately it could be said that being pro-settler isn't a mainstream position, but being okay enough with settlers to vote for parties which enable them is

these two claims aren't strictly contradictory; pro-settler isn't the majority view, yet due to coalition politics & bibi's desire to retain power, they hold large sway in the government & its' actions
