The veneer was pretty easy to do even on the corners. My original Horizon case was 19mm thick. The new one was built with 18mm ply, so with the veneer, ended up very similar. I think some Horizon cases were made of thinner ply though.

The sad thing is that the tuning is so critical that I had to tune the RTTY unit using FLDigi and the SDR. :(

If you are interested in trying out an Acorn System 1, but don't have deep enough pockets for an original, then you could try out a 'System 1 Trainer' by Chris Oddy. He also does replica boards for the Acorn Atom amongst other things!

Day 159 - #retrorandom - It was a happy day in 2020 when I eventually got one of the most stylish little computers ever made - the Alice 90. What does it have 90 of? No one is sure. Not kilobytes of memory, that's for sure (it has 32). But who's going to nitpick when you're this gorgeous?

...I never got round to looking at the bug but it's to do with screen wrapping so I suspect it will have no impact on Elite. It would be a rare thing to have a version that Roy (@loudscotsbloke.bsky.social) doesn't have.
Mame has a minor bug in the display which I noticed when I wrote the Prestel software last year, otherwise it's a good emulation. I even have a real system you can test it on...

The System 3 has the Teletext video card so all you need to do is port the Mode 7 version. Only a couple of hours work surely 😁.

Weekend to myself. Mrs B is off to Lisbon to visit daughter. Going to do my soak testing and packing for RetroFest. Then a short week - bank holiday for those of us in the UK on Monday, and then I'm off on Friday so that I can take my time loading up and travelling down to Swindon.
