I dont understand why my QRZ page has so many views in my first year on air. I only have a little over 2k contacts logged so far, but my page shows 13k lookups... what did i do to get looked up 11k times more then ive made contact with? Hopefully i wasnt doing something wrong on air lol #HamRadio

After spending the last year running my radio off of battery, i finally picked up an actual power supply. Gonna be so nice not having to deal with the battery unless im outside.

Pushed out v0.0.2 of AstroTunes, the navidrome/subsonic front end ive been making. Using Svelte which has been working great. For the desktop app I went with wrapping it in Tauri instead of electron for noticeably better performance. Still lots to do but love how well its been working so far.

Been caught up playing too much Sudoku lately. I usually do a couple a day, but the last few days i got bored and moved from doing Expert to Master and now been working on trying some of the Grandmaster puzzles. My times went from a few min to like an hour now but its a lot more mentally stimulating

looking up info from qrz, find out it wont work if you have special characters in your qrz pw! Wtf... Finally get that part working. Got my master adi file imported and made a few ft8 as the band died out to see how this setup finally works. Yet all i can think is "Shoulda stuck with gridtracker"

and pointed LogGate and wsjt-x to hamlib. Got all that working and syncing in, then realized their "Realtime" upload doesnt work with qso's sent from LogGate, annoying but livable. Can't import logbooks from qrz or lotw only confirmations... more annoyance. Then realized the callsign search wasnt...

I setup WaveLog and finally got it all working... but omg what a pain in the ass. The setting to send data in wsjt-x improved doesnt seem to work so I got WaveLogGate going on fedora, there is no rpm, only deb. Using it with FlRig was janky af so i made a script to use hamlib with my g90...

When filling out QSL cards its fun to scroll through my logbook looking at the crazy or unfortunate names some people get stuck with.

The 100mph wind gusts really did a number on things. So much broken stuff, I wasn’t able to catch a pic of the house taken out by the roof of their shop flying into it. Yet I did catch this sign that got folded right over. It was standing last time I went by.

Good start to the morning. Threw out a quick ft8 cq and immediately got a rely from South Africa, 9,500miles to NE. Im not much of a morning person, but being up in time to catch the gray line does make up for it. Now if only the rest of the day can go this good. Happy Friday everyone!

Over the weekend I played around with making a hairpin coil as a learning project to see how it works. Shortened the dipole ends and then added/removed coil wraps until I got it to 50 ohms. I don’t actually need it for my antenna, but it was still a fun little project to learn how to do it. #HamNoob

Changing the output to a speaker instead of directing it to the radio doesnt output any audio if trying to transmit or tuning. Its like the program isnt properly recognizing the audio output and doesn't change at all when any of them are selected. Nothing hits pavucontrol from js8call.

Last night my buddy and I made contact on some psk31, rtty and olivia. Yet we could not get JS8Call to work. I had it working at one point then it stopped. Exact same settings as wsjtx and fldigi which both work but js8call just does not output any audio at all, even with volume adjusted.

I would love to! I’ve been trying to learn CW for awhile now but I have very bad tinnitus and I’m finding it rather hard to hear. I’ve tried turning it up loud but it didn’t help much with telling the ringing and beeps apart unfortunately. I’ll get it someday though.

Pretty good first day of the year! Spent part of it tweaking my antenna and then started doing QRP on ft8 and was having good luck making contacts at 0.5w! Tonight im planning to try contacting a buddy on psk31, rtty, and js8call, and maybe some others for fun. Happy New Years! #HamRadio

Instead of running FT8 while i work, today i've switched over to WSPR. It's fun to switch it up and try different modes. I did one tx cycle and was hitting Australia from Colorado at 1w so pretty happy with how my antenna is doing.

A few days ago I took the JBC-12 I got for Christmas out to the Soux Army Depot and setup on one. The depot is 800 huge, thick concrete domes covered with a layer of dirt that were used during WW2 for storing munitions. There are igloos stretching as far as you can see in every direction. #HamRadio

I always look forward to our daily lunch chat on 70cm. A bunch of friends and I all hop on to catch up and ragchew until lunch is over.

Been working on a project using svelte instead of react and I must say, I like it much better. React can be so convoluted and im sure svelte can be too but so far its been really great to work with.

Been way caught up playing Arc Raiders. Going solo and running into chill people to team up with has been some of the most fun ive ever had with extraction shooters.

Apparently my neighbor thinks the 7 million people that showed up for the No Kings protest was all paid actors... These people are so delusional.

Something kinda funny I noticed this weekend is that some stations doing the DX contest call CQ over and over so fast without pausing once in awhile, that their just calling over the top of everyone trying to answer them. Probably kinda hard to rack up contacts if you never let anyone answer lol.

Why does this happen on PSKReporter sometimes? Randomly spotted on a completely different band then your working.

Got the coax for my HF antenna rerouted into the house better and all sealed up for winter. After hitting below freezing a few nights, decided it was probably a good time to stop running it through an open window and run a more permanent install so i can stay warm and cozy while playing radio.
