Toad looked at the ground. The seeds still did not want to grow. βWhat shall I do?β cried Toad. βThese must be the most frightened seeds in the whole world!β Then Toad felt very tired and he fell asleep.

Frog came to Toadβs house. He looked in the window.
βGood,β said Frog. βToad is out. He will never know who raked his leaves.β
βWhat if something terrible has happened?β said Toad. βWhat if Frog has fallen into a deep hole and cannot get out. I will never see him again!β

Toad moved deeper into his chair.

Frog ran up the path to Toad's House.
He knocked on the front door.
Frog pushed a coat down over the top of Toad. Frog pulled snowpants up over the bottom of Toad. He put a hat and scarf on Toadβs head.
βHelp!β cried Toad. βMy best friend is trying to kill me!β
βIβm only getting you ready for winter,β said Frog.

βI am sorry,β gasped Frog, βbut I could not catch your list.β
βBlah,β said Toad.
βFrog, why do you keep looking out the window?β asked Toad.
βBecause I am waiting for the mail,β said Frog.
βBut there will not be any,β said Toad.
βOh yes there will,β said Frog, βbecause I have sent you a letter.β

Frog and Toad went out to fly a kite. They went to a large meadow where the wind was strong.
βOur kite will fly up and up,β said Frog. βIt will fly all the way up to the top of the sky.β
Toad ran out of his house.

Frog was standing near Toad's bed. βWake up, Toad,β he said.
βWill power is trying hard not to do something you really want to do,β said Frog.
βYou mean like trying hard not to eat all these cookies?β asked Toad.
βRight,β said Frog.

They came to the top of a mountain. The shadow of a hawk fell over them.

That night Frog and Toad were both happy when they each turned out the light and went to bed.
Toad opened the front door. He looked out into the night. Frog was not there.
βI am worried,β said Toad.

Toad went back into the house. He got into bed and pulled the covers over his head again.
βFrog, can you be as wonderful as this?β said Toad as he danced all over the stage.
There was no answer.
Toad looked out into the theater. Frog was so small that he could not be seen or heard.
