I live a couple of miles from the #Ohio River, where the river represented the border between freedom and slavery.
This painting honors John P Parker, a former slave and abolitionist who lived in Ripley, Ohio. His home is on the far left

Communicating online is great (i guess), but I've really enjoyed creating something I can print and hold and send in the mail.
a canvas pencil case with a hand printed frog linocut patch sewed into the cover with an orange thread. Pencils are visible sticking out from the case.
I wanted to sew a patch on my pencil case, but since I couldn't put a needle through the case, had to sew from the FRONT with on upholstery needle.
This was a new skill for me to learn, so I think i'm one of the cool kids now.

i love the idea of craftivism-not just fun, but a way for workers to seize the means of production and reject consumerism.
wish i could remember who originally said it, but the idea of 'do you want to make art about the problem, or the solution' echoes in my mind. of course, you can do both!
here's a follow up from my recent teapot challenge: I love how the new color experiments turned out, and heres THE POUR TEST!
it pours GREAT-no drips! now if only i can remember how i did that?!

i'm trying to stay away from making cups (my #pottery comfort zone) but after throwing a bunch of lids and spouts, i had a little nub of clay left, and decided to make this tiny little shot glass or espresso cup 'for fun'. it's sooo cute!!!
