Photo shows a woman wearing a yellow hat and a green waterproof jacket, sitting on a grassed rock promontory. The sun in shining. To her left is a steep cliff that falls away to a rocky shore. To her right, a fence post sits in front of another cliff edge that falls away to a rocky beach. The blue-green sea can be seen beside the cliffs and beach south of Dunbar.

Should have been working on my college project today but couldn’t resist designing and making a pencil roll and a matching pencil case using this beautiful water resistant fabric from Merchant & Mills.

Christmas is a wonderful time to….save cracker hats for chine collé!

(Chine collé is a printmaking technique where a delicate material such as tissue paper is bonded to the print paper during printing, providing background colours.)

Day 17 of #ArtAdventCalendar with a fineliner pen sketch of a seacliff in Brittany, France. I drew this for my Geology degree dissertation in the 1980s: a geologist inspired by art. And now in the 2020s, I’m training to be an artist who’s inspired by geology!
