Fun little sketch. Worked out some VEX to transform an object so it will look exactly the same relative to two completely different cameras. The cameras can be still or animated. And it works with imported cameras as well as imported cameras. #houdini #sidefx #vex #squab

Feeling pretty happy with how the particle sim is behaving. The simulation is driven by music. Frequencies are assigned to regions of the surface and source volume drives the speed and density of the particles emitted. #sidefx #houdini #simulation

This project/exercise has sent me down so many rabbit holes, checking references, and double checking that that really is what our skeleton does. I absolutely love projects that require you to learn truly interesting facts/details that normally donβt notice or understand.
More APEX rigging in Houdini: this is another example where rigging has helped me realize there's a lot more going on in our forearms than I had previously realized. Coming up with a rigging solution to get the proper radius rotation working was actually kind of fun. #houdini #sidefx #APEX #rigging

I've made a little more progress with APEX rigging in Houdini. The jaw rig tool will handle setting up the blending between pivots and creation of the controls. Nothing fancy but I do like how APEX lets me save this to disc as geo and now I have a reusable tool. #houdini #sidefx #APEX #rigging

a color coded image by Freya, comparing the summation and capital pi notation in math, to their equivalent in code using for-loops. The summation notation sums a set of elements, while the product notation multiplies a set of elements. Note that Freya is keenly aware that neither the math notation nor for-loops are fully explained by this image, and that this is only a subset of the use cases, so luckily you don't have to explain that to her, in case you were considering doing that!

Controls are automatically created and placed by giving a list of names of joints. In this instance this setup works a bit better than the spine/spline autorigcomponents as they introduced a lot of drift between the joints #houdini #sidefx #APEX #rigging 2/2
