Shooting our videos is a little bit different now.
I'm trying to get into the habit of producing more video, so on the spur of the moment I made a 7 minute video showing how I used Claude Code to put together a simple GitHub Actions workflow www.youtube.com/watch?v=VC6d...
Honestly I learned the most (and became a much better dev) when I reinvented the wheel.
Built a (simple) ORM instead of just using NHibernate (was a mistake.) Implemented own sorting algo thinking it would do better than built in (it did not.) Built own charting library. Etc
All were worth it!!
Namely the 2 for $1 hot dogs, which prolly aren’t a thing anymore. But man was that my first stop next door after going to the dentist. Every. Single. Time.
As a Pittsburgh kid, it is most certainly Wawa, and it is indeed *not* even close.
However, Sheetz has its place, and it’s when I’m trying to get down and dirty and leave all respect for myself at the door
Cannot wait for San Francisco to finally unite around our greatest strength: preventing something from being built.
We so often have to communicate ideas but thats not always a direct part of the interview process. Of course that’s something we try to get a sense of during coding screens and arch/design questions but I feel like I get such a good sense when someone has explain their understanding of a thing (2/2)
Absolutely! I think the part i found most powerful was having to present a technical idea, and maybe the company/interviewer could provide some code or a design to offload that portion of things and the “take home” could be constructing the presentation based on that. (1/2)
Definitely don’t disagree on that
Not something I’ve administered, but I once interviewed for a ProServ group, DevTools job at Slack where my take home was was building a slack app + a PowerPoint. The onsite was presenting it, highlighting what need it met, and demo-ing.
It was a lot of work, but so real life, on the job resembling
Okta!
Boom. 35% tariffs already.
Felt __really__ weird updating the ole' LinkedIn from Senior -> Staff Engineer, but it really did happen 🎉
"Clever engineers write clever code. Exceptional engineers write simple code."
100% agree with this. There are rare exceptions that call for clever or innovative, but most of the time you think you're being clever you're just leaving a trap for a future you.

Dear President Zelenskyy,
On behalf of the majority of Americans, I apologize for what our snowflake of a president tried to do you today.
You stood strong and showed us what love of country means.
Thank you Zelenskyy
Fuck Trump & Vance
To become a Senior engineer you need to develop an ego and autonomy.
To become a Principal engineer you need to abandon that ego.
Wow, after 11 days in NYC in Feb, coming back to SF this weather is divine
For the first time in my career, I’m about to be writing Golang instead of Python professionally and oh BOY am I excited
They’ve made such a cool social graph with letting you invite people to your future events if you’ve gone to a previous event with them, SUCH a nice way to connect people if they’ve only met one-off and don’t have each other’s info
I wonder if they’re trying to steal the thunder @partifulapp.bsky.social has so awesomely captured. Will absolutely keep using Partiful cause they’ve just nailed it
