Birding mainly between Easington and Spurn and Outstrays along the Humber. No lists, just enjoying looking for my own stuff.

I returned to Eden Springs in N/E Fife for some quality goose watching. I managed to see the two Bean Geese, that i thought were a Tundra & a Taiga but when i saw them i wasn't convinced wrt to the Taiga & believe it's Tundra with a taiga-like bill?

WWT Caerlaverock closed, so walked a loop along the entrance road and around the NNR. Not many geese, but did find 3 Russian Whitefronts and an orange legged Pink-foot. Can’t remember seeing Russian β€˜fronts in D&G before, so good to pick some up here in this winter’s influx #phonescoped

A pity more UK Birders haven’t moved over to Bluesky, because on the rare occasion I do peruse X it only serves to realise how much more UK birding related stuff I’m missing out on. That said, no intention to return… I just wish Bluesky would fix the long standing issue with the Lancs Birding feed!

Fully expected this to be a @stuartsbirding.bsky.social post when I saw that familiar salt marsh photo with Lytham houses in background πŸ˜€. Nice one Tom (again).

Quite an uneventful WeBS at #Spurn for me; 20 Whoopers on the Straight of note. Still 8 Russian β€˜fronts and a Barnacle around, but 2 Ravens u-turning at the Warren undoubtedly the highlight #phonescoped

I've had misgivings for a while, but @mattdenial.bsky.social's videos prove that the Branston brantas are a real pickle. Six show mixed features (white foreheads and/or dark breasts) and even the "Barnacle" shows a white collar and mahogany-tinged breast. All F1 & F2 hybrids to my eye #lincsbirding

Had another look at the Russian Whitefronts in the Triangle at #Spurn this afternoon (53 + 4 Barnacles) and had this lovely Tundra Bean with Greylags on Easington Straight as we drove home. Close to road at first; but distant in fading light when we got back with camera 😐 @birdguides.bsky.social

Some excellent goose watching in North Norfolk over the last week. A notable influx of White-fronted, Barnacle and Tundra Bean Geese joining the Pinkfeet flocks. The Netherlands is most likely the origin of these birds. Certainly livened up the grey weather.

A great trip out hoping to see some rare Scoters. Met up with Mark Wilkinson at Buckhaven, very few scoters there. So we moved to Leven to check the scoter flock & try & see Adam Hutt's White-billed Diver. Little did we know we would find our own, an adult bird in heavy moult.
