i always see it as superseding normal metering, with the Guide number for your flash and film ISO you just choose f-stop that corresponds with the distance of your subject -- little clunky at first but thinking about it this way has been really helpful for my flash photography

sorry for the lack of photo content, i've actually been taking a lot of photos, just not developing much -- I sent out 10 rolls today of my backlog because i have really missed showing my work off AND theres photos trapped in that cellulose that im excited about
This tends to be the case when you start shooting 9 Major

Totally! And yeah, it's like *so* close to being there. I'm dropping the recoil spring by *1* more pound to see how that helps -- my hope is to get much more reliable and remove that variable as best I can. I was told by another open shooter local to me that he used to run a 9# spring. Nuts.
Overall this match was definitely informative -- lots of new things to work on in dry fire.
Notes:
-Do more burkett loading to really burn it in better.
-Much more vision focus in transitions
-Build confidence in gun as it gets more reliable.
-Cue transitions urgently off of targets I shoot.

Final stage of the day (after the classifier I posted earlier), definitely the most fun one for me, lots of overconfirming and a pretty major malfunction in the middle made it kind of sluggish. Ended one handing it on the last target because I was starting to lose my earpro, too ๐

Third stage of the day -- a short one this time, unloaded start where I missed my magwell some with my magazine, then some pretty inefficient target order choice. Pretty good hits on paper, I gotta completely stop trying to shoot makeups, I think.
Not my finest, honestly, but I appreciate it! ๐
Always not the best when you have a complicated stage like this with lots of hidden targets -- no idea WHY i didn't shoot one of these twice, too. Just lots of skill issues abound here LOL.

Second stage of the day, brain completely melted after I hit the no-shoot and I was deciding to make-up. You can also see stage planning break down there, too. People's walkthroughs were very overlapped here so it was hard to get a GOOD "burn-in" of the plan.
That's totally fine! Like, honestly you won't *really* be competitive the first matches you go to anyways, so it doesn't really matter what division you land in -- just go shoot!
No problem, I'm shooting 9mm Major -- it's a highly overpressured round made to push itself into an easier scoring bracket. The problem is that when you do this, and then add a compensator to use all that extra gas, it tends to change what kinds of springing you need.
That's the 'tuning' stage.

just a phone camera! lots of them have slow motion functions now
this is what shooting an open division gun is like, I'm still in the tuning phase where I'm ironing out the kinks lol

First stage of the day -- probably the one with the most "urgency" and also the most malfunctions on the open gun. Felt like my shooting was pretty good here but my homie who is of similar skill level gapped me by 9 seconds.
I bought an *even lighter* recoil spring after today.
