Have you ever considered using a dash cam for content creation?
Find out what happened when I tried this out in the latest podcast episode, youtu.be/F1Zd6r5lGhE
True! Got to keep eyes on the road π
We often think of dashcams as devices for risk management and safety. π
But what if they could be used for content creation as well? π€

Got knocked off my posting streak due to a technical glitch, but I'm working on getting right back at it now that it's cleared.
I was up to about 63 before it happened, which is the highest it had been in a long time.

Winter can be a challenging time to practice photography, but with a little creativity we can still come up with some good options for different conditions and locations. Here are a few of my favourites.π¨οΈ

Do you ever hold a what you think is a "good post" in reserve, so that you can post it at an ideal time, or a time when you have more time for engaging and responding to comments?
Or do you just "post the post" when it's ready?

How's your month looking?
Have you tried the photo carousel with text trend yet?
Do you prefer these over graphics and text now?
I think many people still feel they can tell the difference between a real and a fake photo, whether that's true or not.
This is especially true if the photos are of a real place they've been before. There's a sense you can't be fooled by what you've seen.
PS - These are all real.
It's worth giving it a try if you post on Instagram.
Another way to do this is to combine text on all the slides with photos.
I think that works because it adds a bit more authenticity than just a bunch of text and graphics, which people increasingly associate with AI.
A shot from our first significant snowfall this morning.
I've started adding titles to the first slide of my photo carousels on Instagram.
Helps provide some context for the set, hinting that there's a story to the collection and that it's not just a random group of photos.
While working on filming the next podcast episode, I came to realize it's worth hooking up a wide-angle lens versus using the webcam.
With the wide-angle, your face isn't so "close" to the screen, and it's much easier to cut clips.
An iPhone or a Mirrorless cam works fine for this.
I was experimenting with trying to "save" this shot with some additional cropping and editing, but in the end, I think that I like the zoomed-out version better.
A reminder that sometimes our original inclination was right, and more "tweaking" doesn't necessarily mean "better."

When should you seek to monetize your content creation?
If you ever plan to scale things up, the answer is as soon as possible.
This will help you learn, build systems, and attract the right audience.
It's also not a bad way to identify where the resource, knowledge, and planning gaps are between where we are and where we want to be.
If you gave this a try, what do you think it might reveal?
I found this especially helpful for cutting through all the competing information we get from social media gurus, AI idea generation, competitor research on trends, etc.
All those things are fine as inputs, but on their own, they will never lead to clarity about what we want & where we're going.
