Finally. Goodbye, X.
The global work continues, even as this local chapter closes. Happy 10th Birthday, Ethereum.
To the few who answered the call, who raised their light to meet ours: thank you. Your belief was a current of warmth in the quiet, and we are deeply grateful for it.
A seed of sovereignty needs willing ground to grow. To force it is to betray the nature of the seed itself. We choose the difficult honesty of stillness over a flawed creation. This is our principle, made real.
We believe a hackathon should be a reflection of its ideals. Without a broad, active organizing team from the community, we felt we couldn't create the truly decentralized and collaborative experience we envisioned.
With heavy hearts, we are announcing the cancellation of ETHBrno 2025.
The local organizing spirit has faded, and the collective will from the Czech community to build simply isn't there. We are therefore closing this chapter. At least for now.
This change is on all of us - organizers, sponsors, and builders. By choosing to support and participate in events with this collaborative ethos, we collectively build a more sustainable and genuinely innovative ecosystem.
Let's make this the new standard.
So whatβs the alternative? A model where the main goal isn't claiming a bounty, but sharing research. A space where we learn from each other and have the courage to ask the real, hard questions about what we're building and why. Itβs about collaboration over competition.
This isn't a failure of the builders; it's a flaw in the incentive structure. A relentless focus on 2-3 days sprints for cash bounties naturally leads to a graveyard of abandoned projects. We're celebrating the demo, but forgetting the difficult journey that comes after.
This goes deeper than just hackathons, it's about the soul of our ecosystem.
Are we building a community rooted in shared learning and authentic curiosity, or a transactional arena where the highest bidder sets the agenda? The culture we build is the one we get.
Let's be honest about Ethereum hackathon culture.
- We're breeding bounty hunters, not founders
- We're creating "hackathon tourists," not long-term residents in our ecosystem

Amazing. @dod.ngo are masterchefs!
We're building the future of money on:
β Centralized code collaboration
β Surveilled blockchain data
β Gatekept deployment tools
β Intermediary-dependent infrastructure
Where's the sovereignty in our development?

Support community-driven hackathons.
They care about values.
And focus on practical tools.
Full support from our side.
We are glad we could be part of the story and help π
The next ETHBrno hackathon is planned for Q4/2025.
Lunarpunk is our blood. Privacy is our essence. Weirdness is our forte.
This time we hope to succeed.
