Alleged sighting
This is not at all breaking news at all and many have pointed out as such but this is also the key reason why many folks will not partake of your Substacks (because it is hosted at THE Nazi bar)
This is exactly right.
Age verification / online ID check legislation literally forces companies to collect MORE data on children (and everyone else) not less.
We desperately need privacy, antitrust, and algorithmic justice legislation.
Not censorship bills like KOSA and expanded surveillance.
We're at a point where there are no cheap options to retreat to and no price points that guarantee quality. Every run-down studio is $1400, every fast food meal is $17, every luxury condo has peel-n-stick tiles, every $300 pair of boots falls apart. Endless expensive mediocrity.
Iran: look, it's simple. We literally just paint the silhouette of a plane on the ground. We literally just nail together some boxes in the shape of a tank. We literally just pull looney tunes shit. Their AI will make them spend $100 million to destroy $5 of arts and crafts.
the US: grok is this
I’ve seen in happen even with some of the most progressive types that post or say shit like "sex work is work" when it’s relevant and appropriate.
It’s just some patriarchal narratives are so deep and ingrained in men’s minds that pretty much every single cis man holds them on some level.
You’d think men get jealous first, and it can happen or course, but the most common issue is how much they think they’re owed a sex availability tax of some sort.
Many men aren’t possessive on the sense they don’t mind "sharing" but they clearly see their partners as a toy of sorts, not a person.
If sex work has taught me anything is that indeed most men believe their partners should be 24/7 sexually available to them.
I’ve lost count of the times I’ve heard: "I finish my work day exhausted and yet this guy insists he should have some of what I give the clients at work and he won’t give up"
I guess the hardest part is that you can’t really modify the way you relate to the world by never practicing it, but if you’re trying to practice community and pro social behaviors surrounded by proud misanthropes… oof.
I hope you win tho
(Just to be clear is not anyone I’m mutuals with here, it’s people irl)
It’s not even malicious, at least not on this case, they just genuinely don’t understand the concept of "we’re on the same boat so we better keep it afloat regardless of how we feel about each other"
It broke my brain, I feel like I’m teaching teenagers how to behave pro socially.
I’ve been in close contact with a few Americans lately and the way they don’t seem to understand what community means, i.e. it’s not a friend group but a social contract to survive together, and either demand too much, break their end by not showing up or self sabotaging is… something
Yes, I get that people get… impressed? By the computational power it uses and the specifics of the algos being a black box, but it truly baffles me how many companies fail to see that it’s just gotten better at mimicking understanding, logic and meaning, it’s never developed any of those things.
How the hell do actual professional programmers are falling for it?? Do they not see it produces barely coherent results only half the time at best?
Or is it a corporate management issue forcing it on everyone?
What is going on how did we get here?
I’m a bit shocked that it’s taken so long for people to realize LLM’s are a huge scam because it’s something I always knew with minimal tangential knowledge.
Like, I dropped out of undergrad degree on math and that taught myself HTML at 11 years old, I’m *math smart* but also just a random person.
Arreglar todo a credencialazos no era el mejor método pero lo que sea que estén haciendo ahorita está peor
Why @why.bsky.team Until December of last year I was using LLMs as fancy autocomplete for coding. It was nice for scaffolding out boilerplate, or giving me a gut check on some things, or banging out some boring routine stuff. In the past two months Claude has written about 99% of my code. Things are changing. Fast
in case you ever wondered why bsky breaks all the fuckin time and is increasingly a pile of jank

A woman with Long Covid won almost one million dollars in a lawsuit against her employer who refused to allow her work from home accommodations.
May this set a precedent.
Remote work should be accessible to all who need it.
It’s a game changer for people with disabilities.
The House committee will be hearing on a package of 19 internet censorship and surveillance bills like KOSA that will take away our digital freedoms and privacy tomorrow on Thursday, March 5th. Please fill the committee members' phones with your calls of your opposition of these dangerous bills.

The thing that never seems to occur to transphobes is the fairly common sense observation that there is, in fact, incredible and unilateral social pressure on people NOT to transition. They imagine a few pat on the backs from a discord server is more enticing that, like, a lifetime of safety.
Exaaaactly, they’re so adorned but such dumbasses, hilarious indeed
We have BYD in Mexico and for the first couple of years after they were introduced, whenever I was commuting somewhere I’d go: "oh wow, they’re making Teslas that don’t look hideous nowadays"
But it was in fact a BYD, not a Tesla, every time.

Omg I love peacocks, they’re so dramatic.
