As The Guardian notes, โ€œclimate changeโ€ can sound passive or inevitable, while โ€œclimate emergencyโ€ calls for urgency and accountability.

As George Orwell wrote, โ€œIf thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought.โ€ Clear, powerful language matters.

Really glad to see this. The words we chose shape the way we think - and the way we act.

We know, we know...weโ€™ve been quiet. Turns out, building wildfire risk tools keeps you ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ญ๐˜บ busy. Screenshot of simple web app and temperature line graph. Drop down indicates KAMLOOPS A (BC) as the selected weather station, 2021-06-01 to 2021-07-31 as the dates. The graph shows temperature_c on the y-axis and datetime on the x-axis. Hourly temperature line zig zags peaking at over 40C in late June.

I've been tinkering on a side project. Mainly learning about data engineering but also exploring ideas about #weather #dataviz.

What I have so far: a serverless (static in fact) interactive web app showing hourly temperature graph for every station in Canada for all recorded history.
