comparing it to Go feels correct too, i have such a love/hate relationship with Go, with it still being one of my most productive languages, so quick to compile, and so easy to deploy places, but there's just so many oddities that I really dislike. no enums and the whole private Public thing, namely

i've been a bit spoiled by getting to use Gleam for so many projects lately which really does feel like a more ideal version of rust for the kinds of projects I like to do, since I don't get impacted by garbage collection 99% of the time, but nonetheless such a nice experience

just wrote my first rust project in a couple of years - just a simple discord reminder bot - and yeah, there's some frustrations, but my goodness it is a nice language to use. when you have enough ram to feed rust-analyzer it's honestly quite fantastic too.
