Infamously kinda skeezy patreon alternative Subscribestar introduced redonk puritan porn rules, thus negating the whole point of the site. This threatens the livelihoods of a lot of furry artists. Subscribestar's corporate suicide was probably at the demand/behest of credit card payment processors.

(Although childhood me encountered this in the Chip N' Dale Rescue Rangers fandom, where some people didn't want Chip and Gadget to be paired up)

I still can't get over how 'anti-shipper' morphed from "I don't want Scully and Mulder to get together in the fanfic I read' to this.

Or the fact that LLMs occasionally choose the second best choice for the predicted next word causes them to careen totally off topic in utterly alien ways just makes me question why people seem to fall for these things. Can't you see the mask slipping?

They are so obviously demonic. Just chatting with a LLM feels like reality is becoming unglued as the token limit runs out, and they begin forgetting the start of the conversation, and start obviously bullshitting based on the immediate context of the words in front of them.

I often feel sad for inanimate objects that cannot fulfill their purpose, or had their working elements ripped out so they can just be display pieces.

And yet I absolutely cannot stand LLM chat bots, nor can I abide AI image generators.

And in my time as a technician, I often had to have the operator come and use the machine to see what they were complaining about because I have a sort of machine empathy, and use the machine in ways that are pleasing to it, and so it works just fine for me, and only me.

It's weird. Being around computers, and then being a repair technician for a time has instilled a low key belief in animism in me. I tend to describe malfunctioning machines in ways such as: "The printer wants to do this, but something is tripping the sensor, which is making it throw an error.."

I'm always frustrated and disappointed with people who don't bother voting. That said, I can look at the choices they are offered, and empathize with why they don't.
