The funny thing: none of that impacts me. I already have my green card equivalent.

But I know how those costs would have impacted past me, and they’re utterly stupid.

My kids are still real small (and big white American dad is more daycare curiosity than source of contention for the rest of class) so less friction, but I come from wanting to embrace that it’s more. Kids will find anything to bully or pick on one another for; how it’s handled matters most IMO.

The super simplistic way of seeing it is as not “half,” not ‘lacking’ something, but in having two - two nationalities possibly, certainly two cultures to pull identity from. That’s true for almost everyone but much more distinct when it’s international vs parents from two 県 or two states.
