Note that I’m simplifying here quite a bit as it’s not just RGB but specific wavelengths and the dyes are actually negative values minus the mask fog (so a red-sensitive molecule will be coupled to some variation of green dye that will be later inverted into red after scanning or printing)

Basically, there’s a specific light sensor and matching dye molecules. In normal film, molecules sensitive to red light will be coupled to red dyes that show up during development. Same for green and blue. But here, the red-sensitive molecule is coupled to blue, blue-sensitive is couple to red, etc

You can’t make film like this except at the factory that manufactures all the layers in-house. Certainly not a film for everyone and probably easier to make than a highly-accurate film like Portra, but still a very special product

Hey #believeinfilm friends,
Harman has just launched a new film!
In this post, I'm discussing what this means for analogue photography when a 147-year-old traditional black-and-white film factory begins to make its version of Lomo Turquoise:

Yeah, that’s the thing with these projects, there’s usually no 3rd party opinion of any kind. Though if they could produce the top-down view there’s probably potential for a pentaprism? Not sure if it’s actually possible tho

Half-frame medium format cameras are lokey genius idea for panoramic format. Smaller than XPan but still worth it for the ease of scanning.

I think a price will be something resembling an expensive mechanical camera made near Wetzlar

Youp, I was quite disappointed. I guess it's a good reminder that the vast majority of the times posted on Massive Dev Chart is opinions of people like us trying things (and sometimes getting them wrong)

Hey #believeinfilm friends,
I just published this month's Analog.Cafe newsletter:
A new ISO 400 colour-negative film from China, Fujifilm’s “secret” Japan-made film, a Harman mystery, updated Ektachrome, new pano projects, Leica Monopan, and the packfilm project! 🎞️📸
