On matters of accessibility - Beth DeConinck Personal journeys My favorite part of working in accessibility is learning about my colleagues’ journey into this field. I’m especially interested in the career paths of colleagues who, like me, […]

Have you seen bethdeconinck.com/2026/03/04/o... ?

I thought Beth gave a wonderfully empathetic yet sharp analysis.

Auto mechanic/drinker and hell-if-I-know, because family trees often have gnarled roots. And also it’s a weird question and why are you asking?

I have a hard time understanding how Facebook can blow 70 billion+ on VR and AI but can't find a few pennies to build a web site that works.

I did not know that. I lived in Laramie for awhile when I was a kid. Worked at a bike store there.

There are at least a half dozen A-team van replicas on the market right now. Finding a band of merry rogues to travel with is on you. And it would cut down on family time. Anyways, here’s one in Utah. topclassiccarsforsale.com/chevrolet/75...

You know that breaking up is hard to do

I don't think anyone will need to break it up. I think it's too cumbersome and over-leveraged and is going to collapse into itself, all by itself.

I mean, that's kind of the Warner story with each new acquisition.

Most days I think Kansas is a much better place than you’d expect. Today is not one of those days. Today Kansas showed itself as petty, mean and stupid. You can’t undo that.

You can lead a horse to water, but he's still going to want to put a "Quick sync on equine hydration" meeting on your calendar.

When I was 15 I was a radio DJ. When I asked the grizzled old station manager a naive and foolish question about ads he glared my way and said, β€œwe only play music to get people to stay for the ads.”

I think about that for every ad-supported medium.

After reading your first sentence, my brain went to an opposite conclusion: as consumer services rapidly and overwhelmingly enshittify themselves, is there an opportunity to close that old gap? Perhaps even to flip it?
