Book cover of "Designing Data-Intensive Applications, 2nd edition". It has a similar wild boar on the cover as the first edition, but it uses O'Reilly's new cover design, and the boar is now slightly colourised.
The second edition of Designing Data-Intensive Applications, by myself and @chris.blue, is finished and sent off to the printers! Ebooks should be available in the next week, and print books in 3β4 weeks. Sigh of relief. π
(BTW, this is a good opportunity to support your favourite local bookshop!)
I saw a sad post from someone about how they track the ROI of their relationships in a spreadsheet. This is not the real relationshipmaxxing strategy!
I need this!
by "this model" I meant APCA
you need to put the center point at 60, there's all sorts of interesting perceptual issues with contrast. I think this model will become WCAG 3.0?
I loved 1:1s walking along SF's Embarcadero. Getting some motion in, moving together with your conversation partner, being inspired by things happening. Acknowledging the environment.
Very nice! Did you come across apcach in your adventures? Great way to get uniform perceptual contrast in color pairs across light and dark mode.
It's deep in the DNA of the project. For as long as I can remember, pre 1.0
When youβre a carpenter making a beautiful chest of drawers, youβre not going to use a piece of plywood on the back, even though it faces the wall and nobody will ever see it. Youβll know itβs there, so youβre going to use a beautiful piece of wood on the back. For you to sleep well at night, the aesthetic, the quality, has to be carried all the way through. Steve Jobs
This quote about a "carpenter" is also perfect because it shows a lack of pragmatism and efficient use of resources. Why would the wood you never see need to be anything but structurally sound!
truly essential tool!
It's very intuitive!
React is a helluva drug
Wake me up when soon happens
They should have added it too. I think it's because this is primarily their "1M context" comparison and Sonnet is the previous iteration of that offering.
self identifying himbo here. I don't like this.
Is there anyone working at these labs that don't use a MacBook? It's getting tiresome to see all these "native" Mac apps that could be easily packaged for Linux/Windows.
phew, I already switched to fish
That doesn't look like the right graph. Look up "gas town coinmarketcap" looks like it's still worth nothing after the crypto bros dumped it.
Good stuff!
I like it.
This is one of the secret levels. Congratulations on finding it. Now you must escape.
Dunno. I've got nothing to do with checkpoints. Reset just happened so they probably need to get new checkpoints first.
Simply move the things closer to each other
Inconsistent application of ethics (or lack of ability to describe one's own ethical standard comprehensibly) suggests the concern isn't really about harm reduction, but about feeling morally clean in a way that is visible to one's peer group.
guh
I'm certain it will be the best release yet.
You don't need to spend much time to keep up, tools and practices are so nascent. If your area of work is represented in the training set, then the tools are probably ready to provide value to you. There's still a learning curve you might want to hold off on.
