Congress could, and should, ban this. Impose the same rule nationwide as some states already have: if an incumbent doesn't file for reelection by the deadline, the window to file gets extended a week or two.
also very few national outlets want to pay for the travel that type of coverage requires, and a lot of local reporters got laid off, which does not help lol
corey lewandowski and markwayne mullin have to bang now, that's the rule

Whether you work in beverage-alcohol company or a government agency, or youβre just a concerned member of the American drinking public who encountered something a journalist ought to look into, the boozeletter wants to hear from you! As ever, if you have tips about what's going on at Diageo, please get in touch! dave@dinfontay.com via email, or dinfontay.11 on Signal. You can remain anonymous.
NEW: I'm hearing that Diageo has laid off its on-premise field team, the Diageo Hospitality Program. Two different sources, both former employees with current contacts at the liquor giant, estimate ~200 workers cut nationwide. Will update if/when Diageo responds to my inquiry.
"Elected as a union militant [...] OβBrien has spent the last two years shepherding the lambs of the American working class straight to the slaughter via his endorsements and promotions of some of the most reactionary, anti-labor politicians in the land."
I really don't think I should have to verify that I am human to look at the Cheesecake Factory menu online. Dogs and robots should be able to look at 57 types of cheesecakes too.

for the intervening 18 years before joining ap in 2021, rinehart was on the ngo/academic/media-adjacent start-up circuit. maybe she did good work! but as actual reporters at ap point out, it's alarming that these top down directives are coming from somebody who's been out of the game for so long.
i looked up aimee rinehart on linkedin to get a better sense of what sort of person might invoke the borg to workers she is actively trying to deskill. her first, last, and only job as a f/t reporter was a 5mo stint at gannet in 1995. last journalism role at a news org (wsj) ended in 2003.
π€― Hop-ocalypse Now Coca-Cola recently sent a letter to its domestic distributors with bad news: Due to βfacility upgrades at the water source and production facilities in Mexico,β its glass-bottled Topo Chico mineral water will be unavailable stateside until the third quarter of this year. (The American soda giant acquired the Mexican brand in 2017.) But the eponymous hard seltzer will remain available throughout this stretch, because Molson Coors has always manufactured it without the famously fizzy waters of mountainous Monterrey. Which could be good news if you like that stuffβ¦ or more bad news, if youβre just now learning that itβs never been the genuine article. Donβt say Hop Take didnβt try to warn you!
