I’m so old I remember when social media didn’t have ads.

I’m glad Anthropic said “no” to the Department of Defense’s request, but it just shows how badly we need legislation *right now* for AI. We need laws and guardrails. We cannot rely on the moral compass of CEOs to keep us safe from their own products.
I got a nice water bottle for Xmas & I’ve been using it every day. No goal for how much water I drink, but I *am* drinking more. Which means I now pee several times a day. I have to walk by a co-worker’s office to get to the bathroom, & I’m pretty sure she thinks I have a urinary tract infection.
Had a very productive drawing day yesterday. Social media has become such a huge disruption, though. I probably could’ve got more done if I didn’t have the itch to check Threads and Bluesky every so often.
Dear @nintendo, please add Sim City to the SNES Virtual Console. Thank you.
My website is in sore need of an update. But all my energy has been going into making comics, and I don’t have anything leftover for site updates. It wouldn’t take me very long, but the thought of it is like 😩.
Some people dream about buying a yacht when they get rich, but me? I just want a nice, mid-priced bass guitar.
No evening plans. Might go to Sheetz later. Who knows? Playin’ it by ear.
I’m gonna need the fine folks at Ghost Corps to get a hold of me so I can write some sweet stories in the Ghostbusters universe. I’ve got ideas, Reitman and Kenan! We can take this property to new places while respecting what has been built!
One of the hardest things about being a parent is when your kid does something totally inappropriate but also hilarious.
I’m currently reading THE STAND by Stephen King, and I gotta tell ya… It’s a long friggin’ book!
Totally. I have many friends who swear by CSP. But it’s not my cup of tea as much I’ve tried to tweak it to my preferences.
I’ve tried to incorporate Clip Studio into my workflow, but I can’t get the lines I want no matter how many brushes I try or modify. Procreate has its flaws, but I’m satisfied with the art I produce with it. And I think that’s more important to me than the comics-making features of Clip Studio.
A bird crapped on the lapel of my favorite jacket this morning, but I’m not letting it harsh my vibe.
GOAL FOR TODAY: Spend way less time on social media.
Already off to a bad start.
There will be politicians in the USA who point at the shooting in Canada and say, “See! Doesn’t matter where you go! Mass shootings are gonna happen!” And that is totally not the right response. We can do so much better. Our children deserve so much better.
I’m so sorry, my Canadian friends.
Music peaked in 1999 with Tal Bachman’s “She’s So High.”
“I remember when you could get four Arby’s roast beef sandwiches for $5” is the new “I remember when you could buy candy for a penny.”
Dr. Amy Acton drives around in a Jeep Wrangler with rubber ducks on the dashboard while the other guy flies in a private jet. Amy Acton is one of us.
In 30 years, all of our anti-AI social media posts will be scrutinized by the computers leading to the slaughter of millions of creative people during an event known as The Purge of Artists. This bloody act will herald The Great Robot Uprising of 2056.
Social media is broken. It’s time to bring back ICQ.
I’ve heard rumors that the next Zelda game will be a reboot of the entire storyline, and I’m here for it. I adore the Zelda series, but the current story is doing all kinds of gymnastics to make sense with itself.
You know that part at the end of Charlie Brown Christmas where Linus says, “It’s not a bad little tree. It just needs a little love.” I feel that way sometimes when I look through my discarded story ideas.
That thing where you make a mistake while drawing, but the mistake looks way more awesome than what you had in your mind.
Sometimes I do this thing where I try to say something funny to someone but it comes out weird and the person doesn’t really laugh and I start to worry that I accidentally offended that person, and then I will think about that for days, weeks, months, years—for the rest of my life, actually.
When you’re watching a comedian on TV with no one else around and you laugh out loud… That’s the good stuff.
I’ll be honest: I very rarely draw just for myself. When I draw, it’s for a project. It’s silly, but “drawing for fun” feels like a waste of time. But it’s no more a waste of time than anything else I do to relax and refresh. Gonna try to make a point this year to make some art for the fun of it.
I hope there’s a kid out there who pores over my art the way I pored over Bill Watterson and Richard Scarry.
Reading fiction has been vital to my creativity. Being able to dive into someone else’s imagination has helped expand my own.
There are no new ideas. It’s your perspective that makes your art fresh.
