Chicago! Iβll be at Chicago Artisan Market this Sunday.
Bringing a mix of work, some new images, all printed by me.
If youβve only seen the photos online, seeing them in person is a different experience.

Thank you! I love how b&w removes any distractions. Thanks for your comment!
Hey Ernesto, I sent you an email a couple of months ago. Can you email me about this? carlos@carlosrivera.mx cheers!
You wont regret it! The best city in the world!
Never tried it. I will. Thanks for sharing that!
I love contrast. It has to be crispy ππΌ so if I use hp5, I push it to add more.
Thanks!!!
Thanks! It is digital, but Tri-x is my go to when I shoot film. Sometimes hp5.
Union Station is one of the best places to photograph in Chicago. It has everything: a lot of people, different moments, travelers rushing to the trains, amazing architecture, perfect light and the timeless vibe that I love. It is perfect for black and white photography.

The only thing that feels better than sharing my art⦠is building community around it.

Exactly!!!
Shooting film in 2026 makes zero sense.
Why make your life harder when you can shoot 1/8000 at ISO 12,000 on digital and see everything instantly?
Film is slow. Itβs grainy. You wait days to see the result. It has flaws. It limits you.
And honestlyβ¦ thatβs exactly why I love it.

Love classic!
Its nice and you will never find a problem finding affordable frames ππΌ
Yes, ai feel like 4:5 is more contemplative or peaceful than a 2:3 somehow. Also, I print a lot and we are always limited by the standard frame sizes available. I guess there is a reason why 4:5 is the most common ration in frames. Thanks for your comment!
Yes, Ive been a little bit of a purist but Im tired of it. I always try to avoid cropping but I feel now a little relieved with this freedom.
Usually I don't crop my photographs. Lately I've been printing 4:5 and I'm loving it, especially in portrait mode, I think it is less "aggressive". 2:3 feels too stretched to me now.
What do you think? Do you always stick with the same ratio? Or do you let your photograph decide?

Lakeshore East, Chicago.
Every time I go to this area, I need to capture this staircase, they are beautiful, how light hits, the designβ¦. This is how Chicago is built, to look beautiful.

Im latino, Im a creative, Bad Bunnyβs music is not my cup of tea, but damn heβs good! He is a performer and most importantly, he is a disruptive and mega creative guy! Us creatives can learn from that.
Also, being latino is the shit!
Getting ready for One of a Kind Show in Chicago. 600 artists, 45,000 people attending. It will be fun!

Awesome! Thanks!
Absolutely! Thanks for considering me. If you want to send me an email to carlos@carlosrivera.mx would be easier. βπΌ
Thanks Ernesto!
Thank you! I was in the middle of a big crowd, and I needed her to look at me, so I tried to catch her attention with signs and doing noises until the women on her side saw me and asked her to tell her to look at me. It was a funny situation
