everyone buying cars that mini-tanks for cars will start to go through some remorse if things don't resolve in next 2-3 weeks.

Yes but that’s weeks away. I’m not worried until the large gulf states start curtailing.

I’ve worked on lng project financing, while it’s been a free years I can’t see the marketing moving to non recourse financing without a substantial portion being term.

I can’t see lenders taking on project, demand and basis risk unless the market flipped.

Interesting in the article they claim they have long term spas but in the recent article their initial MTA is not under contract.

There are effectively developing a mini Qatar without long term contracts. I’ve never heard of that being done before.

How did this get financed?

* As of December 31, 2025, the CP2 Project had 3.0 mtpa of nameplate capacity that had not yet been sold under a long term contract, Venture Global said.

I didn’t know @mwavu.com had a hidden talent for poetry and words of wisdom.

to the one person who downloaded my #lua package -- thank you.

Coding in #rstats is like being in a horror movie where you play the character that saw a monster and you're go around trying to warn others that there is a monster running loose but no one believes you and instead you just watch the monster go around killing everyone when they could have been saved

I was forced to watch TV news when I had breakfast in a diner recently and I strongly resonated with the sentiment that being an intelligent person in America today is like being awake during a surgery.

imo -- making sure folks understand tibbles or just basically lists and lists are basically vectors goes and then showing how to subset vectors / lists goes a along way to unifying base R vs. tidyverse syntax

05.03.2026 03:29 πŸ‘ 4 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

if they are truly starting with no coding context, the pro is the sugar syntax -- easy to remember, intuitive to understand what a function is doing, conceptually track

con - at some point you'll reach a stage when you need base R and it will feel more intimidating / confusing that it really is.

I don't think anyone actually uses my packages, the data I'm seeing here is just replications or something like that but always interesting to see the motherduck package get higher downloads than others

This is a skill issue.

What. It’s literally my favorite vegetable.

For those that have to suck up and use another language at work.

How do you do it?

I’m getting the ick using anything other than #rstats

04.03.2026 22:41 πŸ‘ 13 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 14 πŸ“Œ 0

Basically my reaction after using packet managers other than CRAN.

Starting figurative fires with the IT department and not making friends along the way

It’s clear some folks have never had to build and deploy anything in our company’s environment because the among of cognitive disconnect is outstanding.

Insane it’s become so expensive. I wasn’t challenging you. Just in disbelief at what prices have become.

Also awareness that some standards are heavily opinionated - so it’s not that it’s right or wrong it’s just a particular winning perspective that you need to comply with

04.03.2026 20:12 πŸ‘ 4 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

I think it’s just that - it’s recognition that there’s a bit more overhead in CRAN.

It’s not enough that your code works but also how you document and other meta / admin issues

04.03.2026 19:38 πŸ‘ 4 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

What surprised me is also the lack of documentation requirements / capabilities
Like your literally commenting out and the writing what you want.

I didn’t see anything like roxygen tags which can be incredibly helpful

A new work month which means another round of telling myself fairy tales such as β€œif I work hard and focus on completing all of my outstanding to do lists I’ll finally be caught up and able to not work such late hours ”
