The Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition Switch 2 upgrade is a bit... Weird if you look at it too close in handheld mode. It's like they are using a bad upscaling algorithm. I'm not usually a stickler for graphics but the smudginess is Noticeable and Distracting. Not unplayable, but looks worse
For reference, the Switch 1 game is 13.4GB, so assuming this patch doesn't contain any assets and is just code and scripts, that's roughly 10% of the game's weight patched to work correctly in 60FPS. It's impossible to know specific details until there's more developments in Switch 2 hacking.

In fact, the Switch 2 Manage Software screen shows 1.3GB of Update Data for XCXDES2. On my switch 1 the update data (1.0.2) is a total of 160.2MB. It looks like the "upgrade pack" is just a flag that allows you to download the 2.0.0 update
I wouldn't be so sure. There's a hack to enable the hidden 60FPS mode in the Switch 1 version but it messes up the gameplay because it wasn't designed to run at 60FPS. There was definitely some work put in to patch this game so it actually works right at such a framerate
