NEW FROM ME:
While US and Israeli forces launched strikes against Iran this weekend, Global News' The West Block host Ben Mulroney reposted video of fighter jets that had been miscaptioned as American F-15s attacking Iran
I double-checked. Ben was actually sharing footage from a video game

Today, BC's opposition supported the introduction of a bill to abolish the province's human rights tribunal and repeal its human rights code.
It didn't even pass first reading, but here's some important background on the guy for whom BC's right is now going to bat:

โWe go to workplaces because the workers call us,โ said Biskar. โBut in CLACโs case, they go because the company calls.โ
Last year, 800 workers in Edmonton voted to leave the Christian Labour Association of Canada (CLAC) and join the IUOE. Months later, CLAC was singled out by MP Heather McPhersonโs bill to ban โcompany unions.โ
But what is CLAC? I dug into the unionโs history and operations for @pressprogress.ca
The CLAC prides itself on being a "different kind of union," in that it doesn't believe in confrontation.
Soooโฆ what happens when workers want something else?

My latest for PressProgress. Grocery prices have gone up this past year, and some Canadians are having to make some tough choices.

On a new ๐ตBUBBLE POP๐ต @pressprogress.ca's @lukelebrun.ca joins @rachelgilmore.bsky.social to talk about Juno โNews,โ a right wing self-proclaimed โnewsโ outlet that for some reason boasts one of the highest politics Substack subscription rates in Canada.

I went on @rachelgilmore.bsky.social's podcast to talk about Canadian right-wing alternative media outlets and conservative social media influencers yesterday
Join us on our journey into the Upside Down ๐
"Racism is immoral. It is poison"
Jason Kenney is sounding off at the right-wing website Juno News for platforming a white nationalist
The white nationalist who advocates mass deportations is causing a rift between Alberta's former premier and a right-wing outlet run by his own former spokesperson
Juno News' Candice Malcolm is angry Jason Kenney called her website "racist" for hosting a white nationalist guest
"We're trying to open the Overton Window ... and this is an example of Jason Kenney actually trying to close it," Malcolm says, accusing Kenney of using a "tactic of cancel culture"
This is actually a hopeful story! Because influential Conservatives are calling this shit out!!
Iโd like to see Poilievre commit to stop making appearances on Juno News pressprogress.ca/jason-kenney...
Juno News really has been outdoing itself these past couple weeks.
From the same โnewsโ outlet thatโs been relentlessly pushing the idea that trans people are violent.
Lots going on here:
โข Candice Malcolm hosts white nationalist podcast guest
โข Jason Kenney accuses Juno of promoting racism, calls Juno staff "bananas"
โข Keean Bexte accuses Kenney of undermining his media empire
โข Malcolm accuses @pressprogress.ca of joining Jason Kenney in a "cancel culture mob"
Oh for a world where right wing movements weren't so extreme in their racism (yet still platformed) that I didn't have to agree with Jason Kenney.

NEW: Group sending Canadian right-wing media personalities on free trips to Israel quietly funded by Israeli government
Documents unearthed by @pressprogress.ca show Israel's foreign ministry granted the Exigent Foundation $175,000 CAD to bring "Canadian influencers and policymakers" to Israel
One thing I didn't realize until digging deeper is how close the Exigent Foundation's ties are to Israeli deputy foreign minister Sharren Haskel (Exigent was funded through her ministry)
Haskel is Toronto-born and belongs to a right-wing party that is even more right-wing than Netanyahu's Likud

Larry Maher: "I've just returned from leading my seventh delegation since early 2024. This delegation spent time traveling throughout Israel, reaching the borders of Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and into Judea and Sameria. Participants had the opportunity to engage with Jewish Israelis as well as Christian and Muslim Palestinians, gaining firsthand insight into how their lives have been impacted over the past couple years. The delegation met with academics, security advisors, and political figures to better understand a range of perspectives in and outside of Israel and the outlook on the future. Exigent Foundation @exigentimpact has emerged as a leader in organizing missions to the middle east, for Canadian delegations to experience the complexities of the region and gain a better understanding of the origins of extremists ideologies on our democratic institutions and societies in the west. @HaleviAmit @AmirOhanal" "A real honor to spend time with some great Canadians that served their country. A group that includes several retired Generals, Vice Admiral and security experts from the Canadian Military and Intelligence. Mark Norman, Stephen Rigby, Jonathan Vance, J. Paul de B. Taillon, Mark Misener, Kevin Vuong, Walter Semianiw, Eyal Hulata thank you for supporting Exigent Foundation."
The dates align with two trips the group organized in October and November 2025 featuring:
1. Media personalities from True North / Juno, Western Standard and National Post
2. Canada's former Chief and Vice-Chief of Defence Staff, Stephen Harper's former national security adviser and Kevin Vuong
