Sometimes life gifts you phrases that would be a great album title. Like, teaching someone how to put on a bow tie gave me βCrossing The Long Endβ, and last weekend gave me βIneffectually Hate Crimed By The Elderly In Bognorβ

A long haired barbering practice mannequin sits on top of a bookshelf.
this #bandcampFriday you should buy my good music at sadmusic.gay so my husband can buy more practice mannequin heads. François needs a friend! #françoisNeedsAFriend

can you tell Iβm bored at lunch yet
the beautiful irony of it all is that by deliberately attempting to create a non-cept album the process itself introduces thematic/mechanical conceptuality!
You may ask βis it possible to place an album at max narrative but only middle hardness?β to which I say buy In Defence Of The Archivist at sadmusic.gay this #bandcampFriday
Identifying a non-cept album is left as an exercise for the reader but not the Reeder.
and the βnarrative/thematicβ axis, where peak narrative is an album that tells a story from beginning to end in order (for example, the Hadestown Original Cast Recording) and peak thematic is where the albumβs concept is mechanical but not narrative (e.g. Now Thatβs What I Call Music β97).
All Albums can be placed on a grid of Conceptuality, with two axes: the soft-hard concept axis (where a maximally hard concept album would be, for example, the Hadestown Original Cast Recording, and a minimally hard concept album (or non-cept album) would be where no tracks have any relation at all)
maybe I'll do a more professional post tomorrow, maybe I don't
we'll see
tomorrow is Bandcamp Friday once again and you should consider my wares

The way this record evolves from soft noise and drones into solid instrumentation and melodies across its runtime is really lovely; like buildings taking shape as they poke out of the mist
Iβve had Dominique Fils-AimΓ© on my radar for a little while but sat down last month and listened to aaaaaall of her albums in, like, a day. Her work with vocals and looping in the live setting is really wonderful, and the production on these records is unreal. Like sheβs in the room with you.
