Follow the black arrow. ChefVGC aka Ben Grismer, 2026 VGC Puerto Rico Special Event Champion.
Ayyyeee look at our Puerto Rico special event VGC Champion with the random photobomb!
From now to Champions is literally a waiting room of dead space. While some of that space can be used to arrange things favorably, thereβs a point where everything is fully in place and time is just passing. Itβs a race between the top cut of players and inspiring players, fishing for a head start.
Pokemon Champions could drop as late as April 23rd, 2026. I sincerely hope this is not the case π¬ April is a sweet spot for me, but the later into April it is, the trickier it gets for my situation. There is just absolutely no way of knowing. This is the non-fun aspect of being a Pokemon fan.
The efforts apps have made to take choice out of content consumption is part of why there's more negativity. People are constantly being fed things they don't like and being bewildered by it instead of actively clicking on something and thinking "I might not like this let's see."
Iβm still recovering from being sick π· I hope you feel better soon!
Attention #PlayPokemon competitors: registration links for the Los Angeles Regional Championships are now live!
If you are registered for the Seville Special Championships but can no longer attend, please remember to unregister via your RK9.gg Player Dashboard. Thank you!
Iβve fixed the rental code after learning that the Flutter Mane was Modest and not Timid.
Iβve been playing Battle Stadium pretty quietly, as well as slowly planning for the next three months. Lots of very big things are in the works.
I really, really, really hope something like this comes to the rest of the world at some point. Seeing a live full concert of PokΓ©mon music performed by an orchestra would be a dream
Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection. (Repost)
As of now, Iβm already set on getting that Rock / Ground type that Iβve mentioned before. Iβve determined that I need a Gyarados. Iβve been grinding Pidgeys with Pikachu in order to use it on my runback vs Rival character, and overall from damage calcs I realize my PokΓ©mon have very bad Defense IVs.
Iβm still planning on running the same six for Elite 4 that I mentioned quietly some time ago (I wonβt spoil anything). For this run, Iβm only grinding after losing an important battle, and Iβm allowing myself to lose battles. For the Nuzlocke, Iβm routing a Hardcore run.
Just caught a Pikachu. I actually took some time off the game to figure out exactly what I want to do with it, given Iβve forgotten all the FRLG mechanics.
Iβm going to play a causal game and also route a Nuzlocke for a second playthrough, hopefully after PokΓ©mon Home connectivity.
I keep getting cooked by Rival character π΅
A white and orange daffodil in bloom.
Good morning! π±
Another busy day is beginning, and the garden is bursting into bloom.
Have a lovely day!
Iβm actually so glad they brought this theme back after two odd generations. Hopefully thatβs a good sign.

All of these cases also has a valid reversal:
1) Bo1 cheese is an important element of Grand Challenges.
2) Top 2-2-2 teams (like Indeedee Crown or Pao Nite) can be a valid gate keep.
3) Good Fake Out spam can be optimal.
4) Good Hyper Offense can be effective.
5) Some Top Teams are evergreen.
Fake Out spam as a mechanic only works if the PokΓ©mon being supported is in itself inherently oppressive and benefits from that kind of support, which kind of puts that Pokemon on everyoneβs radar to be counter teamed. Otherwise itβs just matchup roulette with extra steps.
Best of one cheese is annoying, but likely eternal.
2-2-2 teams are overwhelmingly matchup dependent and generally not robust enough to be consistent.
Senseless Fake Out spam is funny but more of a gate keep / skill check.
Hyper Offense. See: 2-2-2.
Spam winning teams. Become a walking target.
Top Five Worst VGC Gimmicks, from my point of view:
1) Best of One cheese / jank.
2) 2-2-2, Best of Three 50/50 win or lose on lead / jank
3) Senseless Fake Out / Screen spam.
4) Overly aggressive hyper offense.
5) Spamming the same team on ladder that just won the last major tournament.
I will personally give special clearance to the Incineroar, Rillaboom, Urshifu trio.
These are great PokΓ©mon on their own, and work really well together.
In the lower parts of Showdown ladder, Iβll see Incineroar, Rillaboom, Iron Hands, Grimmsnarl, Ogerpon, and one attacker. Letβs not do this.
Thereβs a lot of stuff on Pokemon Showdown that only works on Pokemon Showdown. A lot of really bad ideas that most serious players wouldnβt waste their time messing around with. I really hope it all stays on Pokemon Showdown. This includes excessive Grimmsnarl/ Fake Out usage, or other gimmicks.
In all latter cases:
1) the content creator ecosystem is robust enough to educate new players, tho this is generally acceptable.
2) No Toxic / Chansey stall in 2026. We are definitely better than this.
3) Grimmsnarl is not a beginnerβs Pokemon.
4) Senseless Fake Out spam only works on Showdown.
In Champions, I want to see all new players using Incineroar, Amoonguss, their favorite Pokemon, and some form of speed control.
I donβt want to see six random Pokemon on a team. I donβt want to see Toxic / Chansey stall. I donβt want to see Grimmsnarl spam. I donβt want to see quadruple Fake Out.
Hey @bsky.app small request. Someone I follow is doing a βNuzlockeβ which is a custom Pokemon format, and theyβre posting updates on the challenge within threads.
Is there any way we can get a feature that allows us to follow along just specific threads? This is incidentally a feature on Threads.
good morning.
Hot take:
Itβs worth getting a Nintendo Switch 2 *right now*, if youβre planning on getting one specifically for Pokemon Winds and Waves.
Gamefreak seems to be utilizing more of their resources on Nintendo Switch 2 software right now, which is meant to keep us occupied until the new games debut.
It should just be Google AI and nothing else π€ π§
Though for clarification, this is as of March 9, 2026. Thereβs no telling what the corporate machine can and will do to ruin the product.
